Go to place for sushi. Tried many other places in Baton Rouge, but always keep coming back to Ichiban! Great service, beautiful renovations, delicious food every time! Can’t go wrong here!

Aside from one long meal on a Sunday at the Hibachi, this has been our consistent go to for sushi and we pretty much sit in the front sushi bar area.Like the vibe, service is good, sushi and rolls fresh, tempura app nicely done and drink selection is good in the beer range. With a fair amount of sushi outlets here in BR it is to their credit that we visit here 3.25 times out of 4. And the owner walking around with his Community Coffee mug is a nice touch. Only issue other than the marathon hibachi meal is sometimes snooty hostess ‘tude. Back soon. This trip: DISLIKE Tried …. This trip: DISLIKETried Hibachi for lunch and although once we DID get food it was good, we will not repeat this again here. One hour from arriving and being seated we finally were gifted with some of our food. Mass confusion, drinks watered down, essentials never received like sweetener for tea, etc. Our chef was great and his style and food fine, just don’t have almost two hours on a Sunday afternoon for lunch.Pretty sure our server was underwater the whole time we were there.Regular table in sushi bar only next time in.25 Apr, 2015Aside from the eye rolling immature hostess to begin the visit, we enjoyed our second trip in to this Japanese joint in the crowded Asian triangle at Perkins and Essen.Seems she was miffed we did not want to sit way in the dark cavelike back of the place packed in like cattle. Our server and the ensuing lunch were very good. And they do serve lunch specials on Saturday. We had sushi and sashimi lunch plates and a temp app. Salad is largely lettuce but fresh. Fish is fresh. Baby soft shell crab was different for a sushi choice. Will return for hibachi table soon and were surprised they had this available at lunch as well.

Great hibachi experience.. My family of six dines every year on Valentine’s Day at a Japanese steakhouse and hibachi. We have eaten at several in several states. Ichiban is a clear cut above the rest. We we’re seated fairly quickly, service was good, wine list ample, sushi arrived quick and week prepared, and the atmosphere is great! Paul, our Chef, put on a great show, but more so served great food. The meat and vegetables were fresh and cooked to perfection. His show made me laugh out loud on several occasions. The restaurant is clean and appeard to be well run and staffed. Those are all great reason to dine here, but the food is the best reason. Seasoned well, cooked well, tastes great. Thank you Ichiban for making our tradition just a bit better.

Best sushi in town. I’ve eaten at atleast a dozen sushi bars in BR and this is my favorite. I’ve never had a roll I didn’t absolutely love. The prices might be slightly higher than average, but its worth it. Never left without a big smile on my face : )
