Skip, skip, skip….are you still reading I said skip this place. As a chef first impression is everything and to be ignored by staff for 5 minutes sitting at the oyster bar is unforgivable. Baton Rouge your service is beginning to resemble Birmingham and that’s not good. The person shucking oysters never acknowledged my presence even though he was right in front of me. When giving the bartender my drink order, which is specific, she preceded to tell me she knew how to make a drink. Which came out wrong!! STRIKE 2. Chargrilled oysters came out barely warm, not chargrilled, and the size of a quarter. STRIKE 3. Did I mention to skip this place….go to Acme on Perkins and enjoy the staff(friendly) and the food(biggest oyster anywhere).

The bottom line is if your specialty is oysters, don’t mess up the oysters. There are hardly any food items I’m not even sure how it is possible. People have a much lower standard for food, that doesn’t mean you can get away with it every time. This is a very minimalistic way to run a restaurant. The service is great, but Jolie Pearl is more like a bar with oysters and sandwiches for bar food. I have been twice and I am surprised I tried it a second time after my first experience with the Nola BBQ oyster. The idea is fantastic the execution was nonexistent, the oysters were dried out with no moisture or topping to be seen but it did faintly taste of a classic Nola BBQ. Next was Rockefeller, I expected the traditional fully covered oyster reminiscent of Herbsaint. What I got was creamed spinach that was partially covering the oyster. The taste was good, I did enjoy it. I also got a turkey, bacon, brie sandwich which was on the same bread as all the sandwiches and with the stuffing used for the bacon brie oyster which tastes like store bought bacon bits. Big let down, I like the Idea and I even like the menu but the food execution is lacking the upscale pop that I thought would be there. If your looking for wow, it’s not here yet. By far the best tasting oysters around. Blue Point can’t be beat but the prices can!! Over $80 for 3 dozen?? Be careful when they charge per oyster and only offer 4 or 8 at a time versus a half dozen/dozen!!

Jolie Pearl has become one of my favorite downtown dining destinations! The food is superb, the service is exceptional, and the atmosphere is inviting.

Oysters were good, not the best I’ve had. My favorites were the Brie & bacon. Turkey, bacon & brie sandwich was really good. Location is nice, and restaurant is cool and laid back. Service was friendly and prompt. I also ordered a beachcomber; It was really good

This place has a great atmosphere, very laid back but still sophisticated. The little guy shucking oysters at the bar is so friendly! We ordered the Bienville and they were so delicious! My brother said they were possibly the best thing he’s ever eaten in his life. Service could use some work though… You need patience to eat here. Overall, we will certainly be back!

Food and atmosphere are wonderful I’ve never had a bad food experience going there. I’ve been 5 times, however every time, every time the service is atrocious. They either don’t see swine at the table for 10-15 minutes, or they take the order bring it out incorrectly and then once food is out you can’t find someone to even bring you the check. Today we waited 20-30 minutes after they brought only half of what we ordered. To ask another waitress to bring us a check which had the full order on it. And another 10 minutes to fix it. Today’s experience might put me off from coming back for awhile. They need to reevaluate who they are hiring there seems to be no experience in the staff.
