Like this place, not TexMex so it’s a little different. Love their chips and salsa. Good sweet tea. Service is always good, food comes out quick. Good atmosphere.
Just my fiance and I, it took a while to get a server, but once he came along out his way friendly. He was very quick to get our drinks, chips & salsa, refills came when needed. The food was GREAT, chips & salsa were good. I had the carne asada which was very flavorful and tender. I’d recommend here, this was our first time in a while, but pleasantly surprised.
Service and food was horrible. Starving when we got there. Took the waitress 10 minutes to get drink orders and another 10 to get the drinks. Then we waited again to order. Finally I flagged down another waiter to order our food. We both order the beef fajitas. Very bad food. They coated the peppers and onions in some sauce and the beef tasted old and reheated. The service was bad and food was worse. We will not go back.

Will not be back!!. The attitude of the women bartenters gave me pause. They acted that they were doing me and my guest a favor by waiting on us. When visiting Baton Rouge ,I look for good food and great service. Last time I visited both were lacking, after spending over $70.00 dollars, My son lives in the area and this resturant is convient, however, after the service and attitude, I will drive to other Mexican establishments.
WHERE THE HELL IS MY WAITER?. I was looking for a place with an outdoor patio so I decided on La Carreta on Government. I had not been to this restaurant in a long time so I went into the experience objectively. The patio was not too crowded (five or six tables of guests) so I found a table easily enough, was brought some chips and salsa, and ordered a frozen margarita. The margarita came out in a reasonable amount of time. I sipped on my drink and looked at the menu. The waiter came back about 10 minutes later and asked if I needed anything. About five minutes later, it was time for another drink. I couldn’t locate my waiter. Another five minutes passed and the waiter still was nowhere to be found. I waited another 10 minutes and finally he came. By this time, I was totally annoyed and asked him to bring the check. I left vowing never again to return. Why isn’t the manager making sure his/her wait staff is actually waiting tables? Another waiter covering the outdoor patio was chatting with this friends instead of paying attention to his tables. Bottom line: the service is substandard.
This place is amazing! Great service, tasty margaritas, one of the best salsas I’ve ever tasted and LOVE their patio!
