I’ve always liked this La Madeleines when passing through Baton Rouge. We used to go to the one in the Mall of La. but really don’t care for malls, period. This one has the rustic charm I prefer at least. I have noticed a bit of a downgrade in the caliber of employees that are employed in this location and others in the chain of French restaurants. It would be asking for too much to have all true French heritage folks behind the counter. You can get that sort of thing at Epcot’s French outlet I suppose. But I digress the food is to my liking. I guess I’m not all that picky. The coffee is always fresh. The atmosphere relaxing. The complimentary bread is always there if your entree’ doesn’t fill you up.

Been coming here for years (15+) and always enjoy it. The prices are bordering on too high thoigh. I especially love the chicken Caesar salad. The dressing is so good and the chicken is not like the usual grilled chicken. The strawberries Romanov is also good. The potato soup is our favorite, and the put cheese and bacon on top. I love the unsweet mango iced tea. The Sacher torte, fruit tarts, lemon tarts, cookies, etc. are great. Their desserts are all great. Good place for dinner, or even just dessert.

I’ve had better tomato basil soup but still this ones pretty good. The Chicken Friand alone is worth a visit

Overpriced, bad service, heinously rude mgmt and lots of flies.. Service was poor and has been for the past few years. Decor needs serious attention. Maintenance issues plague the exterior of the restaurant. Employees always smoking out back and dressed poorly–pants slouched, shirts untucked, etc. The managers are highly unpleasant and don’t seem to know what the hell they’re doing. I’d rather eat at Whole Foods across the street with pleasant people and cheaper, higher quality food. Lastly the flies are extremely bad throughout the entire restaurant.

Finally. A place where the employees are great and food is outstanding. Fresh and tasty. The restaurant seating area isn’t to great but who cares I’d eat this food off the floor. I would recommend this place to most people.

Nothing like they used to be. I used to eat here all the time years ago. went back recently and almost all of the real classic French dishes are not on the menu anymore. Every single thing i used to like to eat here is no longer on the menu except the French breakfast. So I ordered this. eggs were way over cooked, bacon and potato gallete were both burnt to a crisp. the tomato slices were flavorless. the la madeleine I remember would never allow a plate like this to go out to a customer. My brother had a cup of the tomato basil soup that was good but his chicken freon pastry was dry and old. the mushroom sauce on top also seemed very old like it had been sitting around for a while. Another thing I noticed. Back when I used to eat here all the employees wore white chef uniforms. Now it seemed everyone that worked there was wearing something different. I did not like this at all. Could not tell who worked there and who was a customer. Will not go back any time soon.

PRICEY. It’s consistent, but you can get the same quality for half the price at Whole Foods. My omelet was $8 and the fruit tart was $5.
