This is an outstanding classic French restaurant. They have the best steaks in Baton Rouge bar none.White tablecloths, high quality food at an extremely reasonable price. With expertly crafted 4 course specials, lunchtime is perfect for a quick escape from the monotony of other sit down restaurants. Dinner time is perfect for a romantic date.

Classy & Simple French Cuisine. Maison Lacour is a Baton Rouge culinary oasis in a desert of chain eateries. I love the fact that when I walk in the door the owner is there to greet us, and the Chef (her husband) is in the kitchen. If she is not there the moment you walk in, don’t fret — she is usually waiting on tables as well. Such is the charm of this place. The atmosphere is quiet & classy. The food is simple yet elegantly prepared in the Classic French Style. (i.e., NOT Cajun French)Be aware, if you are looking for large portions of fried foods & jumbo salads covered in ranch dressing under the glow of multiple flat screen TVs, this is not your place. Dining here does take some time, but that’s because it is fine dining, not fast casual face stuffing as some other reviewers may have desired. If I have a complaint, it is that as a general rule the food could use some more spice for my taste (this is South Louisiana after all), but the quality of the ingredients and skillful preparation do speak for themselves. In my dining repertoire, this is a special place worthy of special occasions.
