The menu has a large selection of healthy entrees including sauted veggies, quinoa or brown rice power bowls. There are plenty of entrees to chose from. The food tastes fresh and delicious. The restaurant is cold and I would recommend a light jacket/sweater for the women. Dessert was excellent. The kitchen is pretty visible from the restaurant seating. The atmosphere is inviting but I would not categorize it as romantic.

Very disappointing. First off, I really hate to leave bad reviews but I gave the manager every opportunity to provide decent customer service. First the food- very poor quality. If you want store bought sauces, tortillas and bland food, by all means this is the place for you. 2. I shared my disappointment with my server, expressing in a polite and a matter of fact statement when I was asked how everything was. He didn’t offer to speak with manager. Apologize for my experience, or offer anything in return. 3. I called to express my experience with the manager, and all he wanted to do is get off the phone with me. He tried to convince me everything is made from scratch and again never provided good customer service by trying to win me back for another (hopefully better) experience. Also, if these dishes were from scratch, they need to find a new chef. Not trying to be mean, just saying that it seems like all they are trying to do is push alcohol and assume that the tipsy customer can’t tell the blandness of their food. 4. They have the potential to really bring a new/better version of Mexican food, but choose to be like everyone else. If they are going to have sub par food with no sense of customer satisfaction, they can have my business for one time only and I’ll spend my money elsewhere, and unfortunately with the manager’s completely jaded and unsatisfactory service I’ll go online and share my negative experience. Again, hate to do so, but when a restaurant goes out of their way to not care, then frankly neither will I.

Mestizos is an absolute breath of fresh air for Mexican cuisine in the Baton Rouge area. I have enjoyed the Cancun many times and there are always delicious options available. Today I had the Cauliflower Bowl with Shrimp (which is not something you will find anywhere else) and it was genious! It was a delicious and refreshing combination of textures and flavors that complement each other beautifully. You will never be disappointed with the flavors and options here – wonderful!

Mexican with a Louisiana twist! This is by far one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge. They make a mean margarita and the Pacifico is one of my favorites. They also have a quinoa dish that is good enough to make you forget you’re eating something that would normally taste like cardboard. It’s covered with chicken, beef, avocado, what I think was a salsa verde sauce and an array of other flavorful delights.Mestizos is now one of the few restaurants in BR that has paleo and whole30 approved meals! That can be tough to find in the land of the fried!

Very overpriced!. The entre was unimpressive. Mediocre at best. The service was very good.

Extremely Unprofessional. A group of us met there for lunch yesterday, six of us to be exact. While we were sitting there, a random person approached our table and began to accuse us or removing some cork board from the wall…. After the confrontation, I asked my server who the man was, only to find out that he was the owner. When I expressed my distaste for how he approached and treated us, she there was nothing she could do. At this point we should have gotten our check and left, but we stayed… After the meal I addressed the confrontation that occurred earlier with the owner and still was accused and treated poorly. I would highly discourage going to this place due to the poor representation of ownership.

Great Experience, Food and Service. Had a wonderful anniversary with wife there last week, food was fresh and authentic. If your looking for taco bell then go to taco bell, but if you want great authentic cuisine give Mestizos a try!
