This was my first visit to Newk’s, and I left impressed. My crew tried a variety of items: cheese pizza, Italian sandwich, pimento cheese sandwich, apple-spiced squash bisque, crawfish and corn soup, and lemon cake. Everything was on-point; I really liked the pizza and Italian sandwich. The squash bisque was different, but good. The pimento cheese was some serious cheese (wouldn’t order it again). Wife loved the crawfish-corn soup. The lemon cake (which was free for signing up for their e-club) was moist and delicious. Also really enjoyed their condiment bar, in particular the roasted garlic, peppers, and pickles. Washed it all down with an icy-cold ORANGINA and went home happy.

The spicy shrimp pizza and the ultimate salad are two of my favorite things they have! The salad is so big that I split it and turn it into two meals. Ive also had the southern salad but it was definitely not as good. I miss this place since I no longer work in Baton Rouge! Oh and the pepperjack and crawfish soup is really good as well!
Yeesh. Don’t get the grilled shrimp poboy. It’s just unseasoned boiled shrimp. That was the worst poboy I’ve ever had. I suppose it’s my fault a bit for ordering a poboy from a chain but I had the craving. I’ll just drive 2 minutes down Corporate and go to Jason’s Deli. It’s cheaper, the people are friendlier and they have free soft serve.
Greasy Food that taste bad. Newk’s is quite possibly the worst fast casual food I’ve ever been served. Tried the new location on Corporate for lunch today. Ordered a greek salad and pimento cheese sandwich. The salad was soggy in dressing and the dressing tasted awful (too vinegar tasting with a strong mustard and herb taste). The pimento cheese sandwich was also super greasy. It was so bad the bread was sitting in a puddle of grease that had melted out of the cheese. I took back the salad. The manager was very nice and offered me something else so I just asked for another sandwich to go. By the time we arrived home the bread was soggy with grease. Into the trash. The only good things we tasted here were the free pickles and breadsticks.
