Posthumous. Long long ago, early 50s thru the 70s. Piccadilly was Great. A full service Cafeteria with only one store on 3rd Street in Baton Rouge. After Bill Richards passing, if fell off the cliff. During the 70s they were opening a new one every couple of weeks. If I remember correctly there were 87 locations at its peak. The food was Great. The waiters in the brilliant white jackets with the shiny badges would carry 4 or 5 trays at a time. The service (they had service) was Great. It has since changed hands several times, and each time the food gets worse, and there is no service, none. The fried food is re-fried several times until it is sold. There is nothing fit to eat. It has evolved into the worst Cafeteria in the south. I still stop in when it changes hands, but it still going down. The still serve the same items, but the quality of the food really sucks and the people working there just don’t seem to care. Management, there is none. Sad.
TERRIBLE Service. We visit family in Baton Rouge about once a year, and we typically go to Picadilly’s restaurant on Florida Blvd. I’ve never thought the food was that great, but it was OK. But my daughter, mother-in-law and I visited last Friday, March 5th, and I was shocked at how terrible the customer service was. The servers were loud and rude, and don’t have a CLUE about courtesy and service. The wait staff were just as bad. Twice I asked for something, and I had to get up and get it myself. One server in our area walked off in apparent disgust when she found out someone else was helping us (but not really helping). We walked away from there feeling down and our spirits dampened, especially my daughter. She had been excited to go there since it was a family tradition. Not anymore! We will never return. I know that if wait staff acted like this in Austin, they would be fired! I am going to contact the company with a complaint after I post this. My recommendation is DON’T GO THERE!!!
