Pinetta’s is a unique place in the Baton Rouge area. I believe the owners are from Yugoslavia. I like the Italian dishes but there are many great options. The restaurant is small, dark and cozy. Good for a romantic dinner date. Service has been attentive and friendly.

This little place is awesome! Very unique atmosphere. Some people call it a hole in the wall but I like originality! Had the Schnitzel Holstein and it was very very good! Buddy had the Seafood Ravioli and was also very good! All was cooked perfectly and presented well. Definitely going back soon!

Call me crazy, but I like the ambiance of the place. Yes it’s old, and (very) dark, and has a strange smell, but it’s different from everything else in BR, and that’s what I like about it. They also have some unique dishes that can’t be found anywhere else in this city, and that’s why I come here. As many others have mentioned, their red sauce is the best in town. Slightly sweet, and a little spicy, it’s superb. Most of the food is good as well, although they tend to over-fry some of their fried dishes (such as schnitzel) making it nearly inedible. That being said, the food is generally good. That’s not where the problem lies. The problem is the service, because they are understaffed. At lunch the owner/manager insists on having only one server attempting to wait on 7 or 8 or more tables at a time. It’s just too much for one person to handle. The server has to play the role of hostess when people walk in the door, plus take orders, get refills, cash people out, and even act as bartender if need be (which is quite often, since most tables order beer or wine). Meanwhile, the female owner/manager stands behind the bar and barks out orders but does nothing to help. Every time I go there’s a new server working, and I’m sure it’s because they get overwhelmed and quit. No doubt they have a high turnover of employees, because she seems really tough to work for. It’s sad, too, because this would be one of the best restaurants in town if the service improved, and it’s not their fault, it’s the owner’s own stubbornness.

Wow I just read the review by Shoogiegirl. Wow. All I can say is that I totally disagree. This place has the best red sauce I have ever tasted. I love Italian food and grew up with old Italian and Irish roots. We love to eat and drink. God I love this place. Great food, dim , charming little place. Can it use a cleaning? Maybe but that may take away from the ambience. It is a European restaurant but will always remind me of a scene from The Godfather. Every time I go in I expect to see Michael Corleone coming out of the bathroom with a gun. As far as slow service goes, this to me is a place to visit when you are not in a hurry. Sit back n relax. Have se wine and good conversation with hopefully good company. Leave the cell phone and appointment pad in the car. Enjoy a nice meal. Have more wine. Talk son more. Indulge in some dessert. Have some more wine. Order a nice coffee or perhaps more wine. Have the waitress call u a cab while you have a few more sips of wine and discuss with your significant other just how much you love them and what you plan on doing when you get home. Get in the cab n pick the car up tomorrow after a hopefully loving and eventful evening. Did I mention the incredible sauce. Mmmmmm

AMAZING! The atmosphere is very romantic with dim lighting. Definitely a local hole in the wall restaurant. The service was great, and the food was soooooooo good. The portion size was more than enough. And the best part, was the price. Me and my boyfriend expected around $40 for the amount of quality and service, but it was only $27! We left full and happy! Definitely will go back!
