Let me preface this review by first stating that this might not be the most accurate evaluation of this establishment because when you only order one item on the menu its hard to form a complete opinion of what they have to offer. Plus, until yesterday I had not visited a Pluckers since probably 2011. So here it goesFirst off, I think its ludicrous that any organization would bestow the title of best wing bar in America on any chain, regardless of how successful their business model or menu is. There becomes a breaking point as a business in which you are unable to maintain a certain level of quality due to the fact that you have so many franchises to sustain. Resources and energy are spread thin. Even Microsoft produces a faulty computer every now and then. Now, Im not saying that the Nicholson branch of Pluckers is particularly faulty or inferior to other locations. I have never dined, although I have tagged along with friends without ordering, at another Pluckers. Still, I cant imagine there is that much variation to be found elsewhere. Its almost laughable how much recognition this establishment receives and how quickly some of its patrons are willing to disparage Buffalo Wild Wings or other wing bars. Yes, it does have a plethora of HD televisions airing each and every sports even available, but I have never cared that much for watching a sporting event anywhere other than my living room or the actual sporting venue. And yes, it has a casual, relaxing environment with an interesting menu that epitomizes comfort food. Still, dcor and design will always play second fiddle for me when assessing a restaurant. We visited Pluckers on Thursday to capitalize on their all-you-can-eat boneless wings special. Let me repeat that special in order to emphasize a point I am about to excessively illustrate: boneless wings. Lets particularly focus on the latter part of that advertisementwings. Yes, thats w-i-n-g-s. Its not tenders. Its not breasts. Its WINGS. Now, the reason why I feel compelled to obnoxiously reiterate that term is because what was brought to me was not wings, but rather large, breaded chicken tenders with a little bit of sauce. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the science of chicken wings and the nuances of sauce/flavor distribution, let me explain something to youwings, actual chicken wings, are perfect by design because they offer just enough meat, are covered in just enough breading (when made properly), possess just enough skin to retain optimal moisture (i.e. results in juicy meat) and can absorb just enough sauce or seasoning to form a flavor trifecta which is very appetizing to most red-blooded Americans.Meanwhile, chicken tenders are much trickier. They consist of a greater amount of meat and consequently require more breading to cover the additional meat. This skews the flavor ratio and eventually hinders the sauce/flavor distribution. It just doesnt work the same as traditional Buffalo wings. If you want to see boneless wings done right, visit a Buffalo Wild Wings. Yes, you read that right. Most people would be pleasantly surprised to received large, plump chicken tenders for such a promotion instead of bite-sized wings, which for some operate more as a snack food rather than an actual meal. However, after a few bites I quickly realized the flaw in Pluckers boneless wings design. The actual chicken tender lacked any flavor, and none of the five sauces I tried were worth any substance. Sauce typically makes or breaks chicken wings, or in this case chicken tenders, and Pluckers sauce was indeed broken.I ordered a round of teriyaki, mango habanero, Goldrush, spicy bbq, and spicy lemon pepper. The teriyaki was salty and lacked any taste variety. The mango habanero was low on actual mango flavor and sweetness and it provided a delayed supply of heat that left me salivating well after I had finished the chicken. This flavor was apparently just added to the menu, so I will chalk it up to still being in the trial-and-error period. The spicy bbq and spicy lemon pepper were average, and the Goldrush was okay but nothing to write home about. I also tried my dates sesame sauce which, again, was just okay. What really irritated me was that I dont remember disliking Pluckers when I last had it. Then again, perhaps thats because I had ACTUAL WINGS TO EAT. Aside from the wings and tenders, I also recall trying their fried pickles in the past and I remember them being pretty good. Then again, Ive never had a bad fried pickle.Perhaps I merely ordered the wrong sauces during this visit. Then again, as a man who thrives on odds and statistics, it seems highly improbable that I would go 5/5 in ordering their subpar flavors. Maybe Pluckers shouldnt have so many options if they are unable to maintain good quality. Its always better to do a few things very well than numerous things moderately. The service was also lacking at times, as neither of my compatriots were offered a refill at any point in time. The food was also pretty slow coming out during the initial rounds. And yes, I know the games restaurants play when it comes to all-you-can-eat promotions. With that being said, 90% of their menu consists of chicken. Maybe the tenders just take much longer to prepare. Perhaps thats why WINGS would be better! Also, it seems a little ridiculous that I was unable to order my wings naked in order to avoid the added calories and tastelessness of the breading. I will admit that in this pseudo challenge Pluckers managed to get the best of me (our waiter stated that the most wings, *cough* tenders, he had seen someone eat was 16) because I only consumed 13 tenders. Then again, I just had no desire to continue eating due to the lack of flavor. Im not going to totally dismiss Pluckers. Its worth a try if you enjoy bar food or if you just want to grab a drink and watch a game. Just dont go in expecting award-winning quality and you will likely be satisfied by meals end. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. For the kind of food is more o less expensive. I tried the wings which in my opinion are hotter than Buffalo’s at the same level of spice. I am not complaining since I like spicy food (yes I am Latin but not Mexican haha). Worth trying once but not a place to land several times

Very good wings!! Much better than any BWW, I hope they open in my area around Lafayette, LA. Very unusual flavor choices. The only way to really know if you like them is to ask for a sample. The descriptions don’t really cut it.

Not a Fan. Plucker’s is a cool atmosphere, but I probably won’t be returning. I got the all-you-can-eat boneless wings and have never been so disappointed. Mushy chicken strips soaked in a decent sauce with fries that were clearly frozen was not worth $20. The boneless wings are chicken strips people don’t kid yourselves! The lunch specials aren’t bad, but they can do MUCH better

Best Beer selection. Easy decision, this place always has my games on. Sit at the bar and order food while you watch.

Wings. Great place to grab some wings and a beer while watching the game. Everything that I have tried, from the wings to the salads, was delicious. I eat here on a semi regular basis (trivia nights or NFL Sundays usually) and have very few complaints. One of the servers is a total douche, but we just request someone else. Don’t order delivery; the wings will get soggy in the box. If you’re trying to eat in, just order ahead and pick it up. Also, you can’t beat wings at 3a.m.

Big beers and good wings … Go in expecting that and you’ll be happy, The Pluckers club card makes it one of the cheapest places around too. Try the Big Red wings, made them a few years ago, fire in the hole wings sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. So hot. So good. Blue cheese chips are also great.
