THE best baked beans ever. Podnuh’s is the opposite of Hipster BBQ. Yes, it’s not fancy. Yes, it’s old school. Yes, it’s a bit of a dive. But that is the entire point! Podnuh’s is like the Bud’s Broiled of BBQ. If you like suburban chain Bbq places, don’t bother with Podnuh’s. You are too precious for it. I don’t want some college kid cooking up my Bbq. I want Big Mama cooking up my Q! Podnuh’s cooks their beans in the smoker. And YES, the beans have pieces of brisket in them. You might even find a lil’ piece of bone now and then. But DAMN, are they good! These are not the runny BBq beans- they are ‘tick and sticky. The brisket sandwhich is the best in the state. Don’t believe me that Podnuh’s is good? The LSU football team has Podnuh’s delivered to their practice facility. This is down ‘n dirty Bbq. This is Man Bbq. This is country/ dive / ghetto/ hardcore Bbq. Huge pickle slices. Creamy, mustardy potato salad that is like paste. Artery-clogging peach cobbler. All buffet style so you get to load up as you like. Ignore the delicate reviewers. Have some balls. Go to Podnuh’s. Walk out stuffed, smiling, and sorta hating yourself for what you just did to your arteries.
DISGUSTING. I ordered the Rib Plate with baked beans and potato salad. Ribs tasted as if someone took a whole can of pepper and poured it over each piece of rib. Overpriced! Will not eat there again..

Very good but not quite as good as Florida Blvd.. Good bbq and even better sides (beans, etc.). A good change of pace with the normal in Baton Rouge and is enough to fill you up. The wonderful smell wafting to you while you are still a half block away is a great calling card. If you like bbq, we recommend this place, though do not expect the fineries of the higher priced restaurants, just really good food
Like the fast food of BBQ. Not great but fast and you can eat it. I enjoy it much the same way I enjoy taco bell or chinese takeout.

I decided to give it one more try after i first tried it back in december 2006 then again sometime in 2007 and i must say that either the cook or owner doesn’t know anything about barbecue and the natives definitely don’t if they are the ones continuing to patronise this place. the sauce is watery with some kind of tangy taste to it,the chicken has no flavor at all and appears to be old,the potato salad is nothing but mayo and mustard,the baked beans looks trashy and old with all kinds of left over meat in it. if i had closed my eyes i would not have known what i was eating.
