Stopped here on my way out of town to grab lunch. It was such a great old place with the friendliest staff! Would have loved to have the time to dine in but got the shrimp po boy to go. It was amazing. The shrimp were perfectly fried and the bread was delicious. Will certainly return on my next trip to Baton Rouge!

I really wanted to leave a good review, since the place was exactly how we like it… homey and kinda old-fashioned. The people were great and service was good. We had a shrimp plate which was as expected, a half shrimp half crawfish poor boy that was mediocre, and a softshell crab po’boy that we split. My half was incredible and made the meal, unfortunately my wife got the bad side. She gave the rest to me and it was so fishy that it was inedible. I hate to blame the establishment since it was beyond their control… but it was what we were served. Onion rings and red beans were good.

Good food that was well seasoned. It’s not a place where you expect to have constant attention from wait staff so no criticism there. Whenever our table needed a refill of water it’s wasn’t a problem. Would eat there again.

Worst food. I went on a food journey and because of the great reviews, I came here. Terrible cheap food. Not worth your time. Pulverized seafood and poor taste.

This place is a BTR institution. It’s not fancy. But very authentic. I’ve had the venison sausage po’boys twice now. And the pies for dessert are excellent.

Great Food. We started with the alligator sausage, which was great if you like alligator. They have a great tasting sauce to go with the alligator. I had fried catfish. I loved the taste of their fried catfish. They tasted like they had some flour in with the corn meal coating. Fish were not overcooked and were not crispy. Others had gumbo, which everyone liked. All the food we had was very tasty. I would definitely go back. The night we were there they had a two man band that provided live music.

I’ve lived in BR for 19 years and have never tried this place went there for lunch today and really enjoyed it. Old fashioned homey atmosphere, but the best fried crawfish poboy I have ever had. Friendly service too.
