If your in Baton Rouge and you happen to be downtown you HAVE to eat here to have an authentic experience! The home cooking and po boys are what makes this place a Baton Rouge staple and a must visit. I believe they offer breakfast too.

This place is a true gem, and probably hasn’t changed in decades which is a good thing. Needless to say great po-boys, but also plenty of other options if you aren’t in a mood for one. The hot roast beef is exactly what a good hot roast beef should be, and will require a lot of napkins which they have at every table. They also have live music on the weekends, geared toward those older than college age, although am sure all ages will enjoy. It is a family run place, and everyone is extremely friendly and will make your meal exactly how you want it. The bread, which is the essence of a good po-boy is perfect. They also have some exotic items, exotic to me, but not to Baton Rouge, like rabbit and gator. And like all good Louisiana places has some great deserts.Lunchtime can get busy as it is downtown, and you have a lot of people working in the area, and lots of takeout, as the place gets pretty full. I was afraid that this might be one of those places that lives on it’s reputation, but was pleasantly surprised that it lived up to the positive reviews.
