Well I was not totally impressed despite my wife’s and in-laws raves about it. It was really nice with simple semi-elegant dcor, but the staff was wearing t-shirts and jeans (some kinda raggedy). One passed me whileI was walking to the restrooms.That personreally needed a shower (B.O. was bad). We had crab cakes for an appetizer but they tasted frozen like the Sonic crab sandwich (not impressed). I had salmon on a plank that was pretty good, but the sauce wasnothing to write home about. My wife had New Orleans BBQ’d shrimp over potatoes and we shared some grit cakes.Shrimp was good, grit cakes real good. We also had green beans that were undercooked as a vegetable. All in all it was okay, but overpriced in my opinion. Bathrooms were good and clean.
I have always enjoyed Portobello’s over the years. I like the pasta dishes, but for me, nothing tops the Gala Salad. I dare say it is the best salad in Baton Rouge. Sweet dressing, flavorful marinated chicken breast, strawberries, apples, grapes, pecans, Gorgonzola, and more. You simply must try this salad!
Went for brunch and the service was absolutely atrocious. The last three times I have gone it has been bad. Tried to like it. The food is good but the service is awful. I won’t be back.
Horrible service with no apologies. We just had a very poor experience. It took 10 mins for a waiter to come. Another 10 for waters and 40 minutes for our food to come out. The lunch specials were on the table with no restrictive days listed but we were told they weren’t available on weekends. After pointing out to the server that it didn’t say that he couldn’t have cared less. Overall at a place where food is more expensive than most restaurants I expected much better. I will not be back and I will not recommend.
Great steak for an Italian resteraunt. I order the Ribeye medium rare with merlot mushroom demi glaze sauce and it is better than most steak houses (excluding the really expensive ones like Ruth Chris but your pay 22$ with two great sides included portobellos as opposed to 50$ with sides charged extra). The gratin potatoes and creamed spinach are also delicious but they always give me really small portions. The bread appetizer with marinara and feta cheese is also delicious but they seem to have taken it off the menu. Don’t take one of your best apps off the menu. I always order my food to go and they have never messed it up. They always greet me and open the door for me, very polite.
Just left after finding out they only have a limited menu. We weren’t told before sitting..or before we ordered drinks. No items for children and NO real breakfast selection. Items were expensive and not much variety. The waitress apologized….but still charged me $6.75 for one glass of champagne after we told her we were not staying.Terrible service considering.
The food is ok. The service and prices are a joke.
