Casual, walk-up counter service. Cater a good bit to take-out orders. Good reviews I read about the gumbo are off base. Seafood (shrimp and crab) gumbo was mediocre at best. My guess is that this batch was made 1-2 days ago. Maybe other things are better here? Seafood gumbo is not something to order.

Very authentic and tasty touffe! Get a piece of fried catfish to go with it. It’s the bomb! The Red Beans and Rice are very good. Be very hungry if you order the big bowl. Casual atmosphere to eat but most seem to take the food home. Either way, worth the money.

Sweetest people and gumbo like mom makes. Just moved to the Baton Rouge area. Accidentally stumbled onto this place while killing time before a movie. The owner took my order and helped with suggestions. I ended up with chicken and sausage gumbo, seafood gumbo and bread pudding. All were great. I also tried my lil brothers corn and shrimp bisque. Could have killed a bowl of that too. They are also military friendly and I like to patronage places like that. Thanks so much. J

Did someone say good food? How about exceptional food. Did I mention they love military people. My last visit I was given a substantial discount. Did I find a new favorite restaurant…YES I DID! Everyone was so nice and welcoming.

A nice surprise. I like my gumbo a certain way, and until now could only find it at Dempsey’s in Baton Rouge. I was very happy to find what I think is a very close second to Dempsey’s.Cannot comment on anything but the gumbo and crawfish pies, but they were both very good.I will be going back

Good food. The food is pretty good but the fish you can tell it’s not fresh fish but good. And the cornbread is delicious!

Good for the price.. Enjoyed the white bean and hubby liked the the red ones. Jambalaya was enough to share, sausages seen old.Husband said catfish was fried good but taste like that boxed fish from who knows where, pretty decent food. Will return if on that side of town.
