Absolutely one of the best places I’ve eaten! You MUST try their blue cheese salad. Probably the best I’ve ever tasted! I added extra crumbles and dressing! The wait staff is very professional, and the atmosphere is pleasant, but just go there for the food. I highly recommend it!

I tried Stroubes because my favorite radio show host Michael Berry advertises the restaurant. When I walked in, I was impressed with the atmosphere. I have been there twice and both times the service was top notch. The mahi mahi was absolutely devine. The filets are also great. The asparagus holandaise is sooo good. The ice tea was too strong. The chargrilled oysters were only food item I was not impressed with, especially since the restaurant also owns an oyster bar a block away (Jolie Pearl). They were the only chargrilled oysters I’ve had with breadcrumbs on them, and while the topping was good, the oysters had no flavor. I found them more bland and less cheesy than the usual chargrilled oysters I’m used to from other restaurants. I am sure they don’t want to be like other restaurants, but I am sure they want to be as good. Parrains and Acme’s are WAY better. Other than the oysters, all of the food was delicious and the flavor combinations were very artistic and delicious. You can tell the chef knows what he or she is doing. I will come back for special occasions for sure!

2nd visit not as good as the 1st. The shrimp and grits was the only good thing about the meal. I initially was going to order the grilled Mahi Mahi, but was persuaded by our server’s suggestion to go with the special Mahi Mahi entree for the evening. It was a disappointment, but not near as bad as the pathetic burger and fries my husband ordered. The fries were limp and greasy and the burger was a tough mass. We had planned on dining with friends after talking up our first visit. I’m SO glad they couldn’t make it. In no rush to return.09 Nov, 2013Pleasant surprise. After initially reading some of the awful reviews we were slightly hesitant to try Stroubes. Last night was our first visit and it won’t be our last. The delicious shrimp and grits appetizer was made even more decadent with its reduced Abita Amber sauce. We savored every bite of the fish entrees … the LA Fresh Catch (last night was speckled trout) and the chargrilled mahi mahi. Service was perfect. The only complaint was our booth location. We had early reservations and found it very disappointing to be seated in a booth that faced the kitchen door. Next visit we’ll request a window table.

We will return. Deseree’ was our server and I must say she was excellent! She was familiar with the menu, made good recommendations and was a delight. We started with the Lamb Lollipops which were divine! We had a house salad with a pecan and blue cheese vinaigrette. My husband had the Pork Porterhouse served over grits and I had the Drum ragu. We had the creme’ brulee for desert. Everything was delicious. My husband said his pork was like steak it was so tender and delicious. my fish was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. We highly recommend this restaurant.
