I read a lot of bad reviews for this place. I will definitely say that I highly disagree. I had the best steak and lobster I have ever had. The waitress was so nice along with the rest of the waitstaff that waited on us. The manager even came by to check on us. This was my birthday and they did a wonderful job making it special.

Disappointing. Heard so many good things over the years, never had the occasion to eat there until last night. Apparently they are declining and do not live up to their earlier reputation for the following reasons. Definitely will go to another high-end steakhouse when we want a special meal. 1. Steaks were overcooked, requested medium rare but came to the table more like medium.2. Wondering about the type of cut of beef. Neither the ribeye or filet were tender, lots of chewing to do.3. Waiter was very nice, tried very hard, but working tables completely across the dining area and no way he could keep up with us. Understandably, we lost out to a very large table across the dining room. He did his best, poor planning on someone’s part.4. Manager obviously was not pleased with 2 young men in the wait staff. He clearly chewed them out more than once, he was a distance away and we could not hear, but his face and body language (and their timid expressions) said it all. He was in plain sight in the dining room in front of the grill. This was our sad entertainment while we waited for our overworked waiter.5. Women’s restroom was very messy and unattended. No toilet paper in some stalls, empty rolls on the floor. Could not believe a restaurant of this stature did not maintain the ladies room, looked more like a McDonald’s..6. Definitely not worth the money spent.

More negatives than positives. The positives for this place would be the friendly blond bartender and the friendly tall brunette waitress in the bar area. My date and I both mentioned that our steaks were overly seasoned with pepper. I used my glass of water and an appetizer plate to wash the pepper off of the steaks to make it edible. The bar staff did not know how to operate the tvs and kept switching the channels during the games. Even the LSU game. For what I had to pay that night, I would have expected much better food, much better ambiance, and people competent with punching buttons on a remote. I left feeling like my bill went straight to paying for one or two employees vacation rather than the food and salaries. I could have bought a better steak (which less gristle) at a grocery store or go to Outback for more food and better ambiance. One visit was enough for me.

Slipping. I have been a long time diner at the Sullivan’s in Baton Rouge. For many years it has been my favorite steak house in Baton Rouge. Great steaks and wine list and very attentive service. I’m sad to say that tonight was the first night I’ve been disappointed. My daughters and I were there tonight to celebrate Father’s Day and I am sad to say it appears that Sullivan’s is slipping. It started with the hostess at the front of the house. The hostess’ were less than welcoming and frankly indifferent to our arrival. No smiles, no greeting – it seemed that we were a bother. This was a first for me here. Once seated – it was 10 minutes or more before our presence at the table was acknowledged – despite the restaurant being half full at the time. Cocktails from the bar while waiting to order were inexplicably delayed – again – the restaurant was half empty when we arrived. The philly steak and cheese egg roll appetizer was excellent and completely on point. Perhaps the highlight of the evening unfortunately. My biggest surprise was my steak. I ordered my usual medium rare new york strip. I was aghast when it came to the table. It was a narrow 3/4 inch piece of meat that I might have bought at Winn Dixie. I have ordered this steak countless times over the past decade and I was horrified. Technically – it was cooked well and it had Sullivan’s characteristic crust. My complaint is the quality of the meat was simply not up to par. The sides (baked potato and creamed spinach) were average – not bad – but not what you expect at his price point. We finished our meal with a mixed berry creme brle – very good. Unfortunately, the appetizer, wine (Plumpjack) and dessert simply could not compensate for the disappointing meat and indifferent service. It appears that, after over a decade, I’m in the market for a new favorite steak house in the Baton Rouge area. It always makes me sad to see a great restaurant decline.Bottom line…food and service simply did not justify the price point tonight. Beware.

My favorite!. My wife and I both love coming here! It’s been our favorite eat out spot for 3-4 years now. They nail the martinis. Steaks are phenomenal! Management runs it well and the atmosphere is great! I actually ran in to Jerome, one of the great waiters there, at the dog park a few weeks ago and he remembered my go to drink order! Maybe we’ve been going too much?! Hhmmm

Great atmosphere and that’s where the positive stuff ends. Our waitress was clueless at best, cute fishnets though. The apps looked like they stayed under the lamp too long. French onion soup, blah. Steak, 16 oz. ribeye, was sent back…too tough. Wine glasses went unfilled. Bread came out way too late. No pepper on the salads. Somehow a split bill was charged fully on both of the credit cards. The manager attempted to correct the issue, however it was beyond repair…won’t be back for quite a while

So-So 2 below average. I went with my wife for dinner on Friday night a few weeks ago. 1st, I noticed some dislikes because of the waitress uniform… to each their own. My wife or I barely noticed. I gave a dislike for their food. The app, Shanghai calamari. The flavors were ok, but the calamari was overcooked and a bit chewy. We skipped salad and went straight for the fillet, each ordering the 8oz, medium rare for both. The restaurant was only about 60% capacity, and although our steaks had good flavor and were cooked perfectly, they were barely warm. There is no excuse for a warm steak in a restaurant that has steak as the featured menu item. We split sides of mushrooms and garlic horseradish mashed potatoes. My wife liked the shrooms and I thought they were ok; maybe they were better but I had already eaten a bite of lukewarm steak. The mash was pretty tasty and the best thing I ate. Summary, I spent around $120 and the only item I found worthy of a compliment were mashed potatoes. They have nothing on Ruth’s Chris, Flemming’s, etc. and I doubt I’m going back.
