Where to start…order was wrong(ordered country fried steak, got country fried chicken), no rolls, lousy service(sat with an empty glass for over 10 minutes), food was subpar(steak was undercooked as they were trying to correct the order screw up and was not properly trimmed as it was full of gristle and no butter on the baked potato that I ordered loaded). Generally a bad experience all the way around. Don’t bother going. Plenty of other good restaurants around.
Take out sucks. I just left out of there with a pork chop order…..It took them 45 minutes to get the order out….to my big disappointment…my food was cold when I got home….meaning the takeout girl forgot about my order until she realized I was waiting. This is last time I am eating here…too many restaurants to choose from in Baton Rouge. If I knew that would take back my tip…incompetent
Worst service I’ve ever had! I waited on a call in order at the counter for 15 minutes as 6 employees stood around talking. One girl ran all over the restaurant getting things for the people who walked in at the same time I did. I stood there 15 minutes waiting on 1 chicken sandwich. When I got to the register, my food was under the counter. Cold sandwich and soggy fries. I’m glad none of you work for me. You should be embarrassed. Never again. Of course no tip.
Whenever I am craving a steak this is always my go to place!! The steaks are always delicious and if they are ever under or overcooked don’t hesitate to ask them to send it back. All of the workers are very nice and accommodating. My family and I especially love sitting in Barry’s section. He is very attentive and helpful, even on a busy night. They recently got a golf cart to help bring customers to and from when they have to park farther away from the restaurant on busy days. They also put a Xbox in the waiting area to help pass the time. I love being able to sign up to receive emails every now and then for free appetizers or upgrades. Their rolls and cinnamon butter live up to their famous expectations. There are not peanuts all over the place like some people dramatically say. There’s a huge peanut bucket at the waiting area and buckets on the tables too. You can even take home a bag of peanuts for later! If you’re not really a steak eater they also have amazing ribs, chicken, and pulled pork sandwiches. They have some pretty kickass drinks too- and the happy hour prices are not bad at all. It’s a friendly family place but also a nice place to have some drinks and great food. You won’t be disappointed!
Probably the best cost, quality, portion ratio that I’ve found in the Baton Rouge area for steak. Sure there are the specialty fine dining steak places out there, some of which are excellent, but if you want a quality flavorful steak (without breaking the bank) then you really don’t have to look any further than here.
Bad experience. The first few times I went it was good. the last four times I went they cooked mine and my wife’s steak. they over cooked mine and when I sent it back they sent it to me raw. I quit going all together
Probably just not my type of place. We went on a Thursday evening, probably got there about 6:30. I’d not been before so wanted to try something different. Though it was busy we were seated promptly, and were taken care of by Jazz, who was very friendly and attentive – throughout our visit she seemed to know just when to check on us!Sweet tea and water for drinks, didn’t have to ask for refills. Rolls were great, as seems to be common consensus! Personally I found the menu a little uninspiring, but I highly suspect that’s just due to my personal tastes – understandably there was a lot of bias towards red meat and fried foods, with token salads and fish entrees and a couple of vegetable offerings by way of sides. However, I was impressed by the array of appetizers, and usually I’m not. We had the fried pickles to start, which were pretty good if a little greasy, and served with everyday ranch dressing. For entrees we ordered the Chicken Critters (with honey mustard sauce for dipping), with loaded mashed potatoes and fresh steamed veg for the sides; and the Cowboy-Cut Sirloin with the same sides. The sirloin came out to spec and was pretty tasty, while the chicken tenders were surprisingly good – I’d not had any that’d been in a buttermilk-type of batter before. The mashed potatoes were fine, and thankfully not too large of a portion, and while I’m not sure what went on with the carrots (it almost tasted like they hadn’t been peeled – though they must have been – and were cooked too long), I was glad that the broccoli hadn’t been drowned in butter, which is what usually happens.Overall, a good visit, though personally not my kind of place – strikes me as a very masculine menu and atmosphere, haha! Food was good and arrived promptly, even if it took me a while to find something I’d go for. Pleasant and quick service. Good for a casual date.
