Cheap fried rice was not good..fried seafood was not good
The captain has left the building…err, ship?. The restaurant that was once a drive-through fried seafood joint is now a Thai/Chinese/Vietnamese place going by the (somewhat confusing) name John’s Seafood. The Vietnamese lunch specials are great, especially the grilled pork rice platter. The Vietnamese spring rolls are the best I’ve ever had, and are served with big leaves of bibb lettuce and fresh sprigs of mint to roll them up and eat them with. The menu can be difficult if you can’t read Vietnamese, but Chef Tommy Lee is a really nice guy and he’s always there, so it’s easy to get him to translate or explain the Vietnamese house specialties. My favorite things on the menu are all hot pots – big, bubbling cauldrons of soup that you dip meat into for it to cook, fondue-style. Awesome Asian cuisine in an unexpected place.
