Ralph & Kacoo’ s is tucked away in a strip mall and you might miss it if you aren’t looking for it. I stopped by for lunch one day while in town for work. The atmosphere is classic Louisiana decor with a large aquarium separating the foyer and dining area. The dining area itself has large roomy and comfortable booths, which I took advantage of. I enjoyed the Louisiana music and the lowered lighting. I ordered the Fresh Catch, which today included two grilled grouper fillets, topped with a bechemel sauce and grilled shrimp. The order was rounded out by home fried potatoes and a broccoli rice and cheese casserole. The starters of biscuits and hush puppies, honestly, I didn’t try them because I wanted to save room for a dessert. My server was very attentive and polite, no complaints at all in that respect. My food was served promptly and hot. The fish was melt in your mouth tender and the bechemel was luscious. The shrimp were grilled perfectly and a little shake of Tony’s seasoning rounded out a pleasing flavor. The home fries at first appeared like they might be dry, but that’s just the blackening seasoning. They were tender and juicy, with a great flavor, and I ate every one. I did not care for the broccoli casseole, and should have substituted something else but overlooked that detail. My tea glass was filled without having to ask, and overall service was very good.As I was reviewing my dessert choices, the bottom fell out of the sky, and I had plenty of driving to do. So after a quick consult of radar, and determining i could drive my way ahead of the storm, I decided to forego dessert. This was a great dining experience for lunch, but I can see how dinner could be quite pricey. I found the food quality to be quite good and would recommend based on my experience to anyone.

This place never disappoints! From the fresh hot, fluffy rolls to the braised potatoes, there is scrumptious delight in every dish. The shrimp augratin is always fabulous and today was no exception. Even knowing full well it leaves the kitchen piping hot, AND even with the waiter’s warning, still I seem to get so excited to dig in that I blister the roof of my mouth. Don’t worry, it was sooo worth it. The lunch portion is the perfect size to leave satisfied, not stuffed. So, should you find yourself at their table, I recommend the shrimp augratin ~ just remember to let it cool, if you can wait that long 😉

JG score of 3.5/10 (+2 for Firecracker Shrimp especially, +0.5 for atmosphere, 0 for price, 0 for no Diet Dr Pepper, 0 for typical service and +1 for we would return)Our score seems lower thanthe time we had there but it is what it is. We went for a lunch and had a good time. 1st out was the basket with hush puppies and rolls….these were both bland and lacked flavor and were easy to pass on which was a shame. Next came an appetizer of Firecracker Shrimp which we were told to try and these were delicious= you get maybe a dozen or so and good crunch texture and hot flavor. These were probably our favorite item. I got the Blackened Catfish Creole and it was tasty. I could eat it again but would prefer to try other things= it was passable. My temporarily dieting friend got the grilled Mahi Mahi with vegetables that he likes. Overall, it was a good meal….tasty at times and worth eating at again. The atmosphere is nice. Plenty of seating in booths or tables with lots of cajun and mardi gras and louisiana type decor…it was fun. Enjoyed the big fish tank with the albino catfish too. There is a store in the front.Price would be $15 or more for one here for most items with a drink and such.No Diet Dr Pepper only Diet Coke. Our service today was friendly and nice. Typical, but good also.We could easily go back here again especially when one of us isn’t dieting for a physical.

OMG this place is awesome. Highly recommend the shrimp St Charles. So good and the service is great too! My husband had the shrimp Rawls and couldn’t eat it all! The portions are large and there is no way you can go away hungry! We’ll be back on our next trip through Shreveport!

Last chance. The last time I went here I told myself I wouldn’t go back (the last two times actually), but this I where my son wanted to go tonight for his birthday. There were 10 of us in our party. None of us will be back. The raw oysters we ordered for an appetizer came out with our entrees, which were room temp at best and taste like TV dinners. We waited a long time for our food, but they waited until they brought our dinner out to tell my son’s girlfriend that they didn’t have the stuff to make her coconut shrimp, which were one of their specials tonight. This was at 6:30 and you’re already out of your ‘special’? So by the time she got anything, the rest of us were done and her food wasn’t even hot either. Our waitress was not concerned about any of this. She wasn’t friendly at all really. The bill (after the tip which she didn’t even deserve) was right at $400. None of us have a problem paying good money for good food, but I literally have had better food AND better service at Captain D’s. Done with this place.

Wolf Warrior. So very disappointed in the food preparation. Ordered the seafood platter and everything came out fried and brown. Did not know if i was eating shrimp, crab or whatever else was on the plate . Had watched the restaurant for two nights from the hotel. Across the street and it was so busy I thought it just had to be great? On a positive note, I did order a cup of the gumbo which I thought was very good and our server was very nice and attentive.Maybe just a bad night?

Well…. Arrived for late dinner Monday night. Seated quickly, service attentive. Raw oysters on shell, were small and expensive, not a good combination. The ‘off menu’ charbroiled oysters in shell were so small, I could not find them anywhere in the shell after being cooked. They were even more disappointing and more expensive than the uncooked ones. I should have sent them back to kitchen for a redo. Sea bass tasted bland, lacking seasoning, even while piled with lump crab meat and crawfish tails. The grilled shrimp was small, reminiscent of the little curly frozen ones found in a bag in the frozen food section of local market. My favorite dish was the seafood gumbo. Good flavor but so thick it was like brown gravy with lots of seasoning. Did not see even one oyster in my seafood gumbo. This is the second time that I have got that ‘whats going on here’ feeling. Hate to see this place decline. I have had great food at this place. They do know how to do it right! Maybe it was just a bad night… Hope so.
