Perfect Name!!!. Vintage Garden is a breath of fresh air. Their food tastes like home and the atmosphere feels like home. You browse the dozens of items for sale while waiting for your lunch. The staff is so friendly. I recommend the sweet potato fries for appetizer. For entree, everything I’ve had is great. They have different desserts depending on the daily lunch special, but always have the bread pudding, and it’s DELICIOUS!
Great!. I got out of work at noon on a Saturday and decided to try Vintage Garden Cafe. When we arrived we were promptly greeted and were shown to the seating area where we were able to choose our own table. Talk about great atmosphere! You walk into what feels like home. Seating area was spacious and well placed. For our drinks most everyone either ordered sweetened or unsweetened tea, or water. Brewed Community tea . . . this is a big deal to me. I really hate those Gold Peak Tea machines. For appetizers, we ordered Seafood Gumbo, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo, Meat Pies, and Crawfish Pies. The Seafood Gumbo was my favorite of the two gumbos and I preferred the spicier Crawfish Pies over the Meat Pies. No crumb or drop of gumbo was left, so my preference does not mean the others weren’t good because they were delicious as well. For my meal, I decided on the Roast Beef Poboy. Other items ordered at the table were: Fried Shrimp Poboy, french fries, and the Chef’s Salad with Ranch Dressing on the side. The Roast Beef on my poboy was seasoned well and the meat still shined through. I am not sure where the source of their bread is, but it is certainly a great foundation. The shrimp on the Shrimp Poboy were crispy, not overly battered, and seasoned well. The french fries were also very good. Which may not seem like a big deal, but these fries compare to some of my favorites. Ranking right up there with Five Guys. The Chef’s Salad that was ordered was fresh and bright. However, the diner that was with me did not like the Ranch dressing, but our server and the restaurant promptly made a change that the diner appreciated and enjoyed. For dessert, it was Bread Pudding all around (NO RAISINS OR PINEAPPLE…the way it should be). This is the best bread pudding at any restaurant in Houma, LA. Pair with a cup of Community coffee and thank yourself.Vintage Garden Cafe also caters, so If you are looking for some really great food from some good people this is the place to go.
