Fair…. Went in for lunch. Buffet seemed nice, but we ordered from the menu. Service was slow and atmosphere was very lacking. Food was good, but we probably won’t return. Thai Spice is much better.
Went in at 7:30 on a Friday night and they told us they were closed when we walked in. Disappointing.
Best Thai on the Northshore. I’ve tried all the Thai places I can find on the Northshore, and this one is literally TWICE as good as all the others. Every other Thai plate I get anywhere else, I’m always left wishing they had done it a little differently, a little more like Sala Thai. They have a really tiny (I mean, laughably tiny) lunch buffet and I wouldn’t waste your time with that, especially if you’re trying Thai for the first time. Get the old standby Pad Thai, or a glass noodle dish with your choice of tofu, chicken, etc. Have been many times and always look forward to the next time.
The ‘new’ Sala Thai is Awesome.. UPDATE: 5-23-14 Good news! The ‘new’ Sala Thai is just as good, and possibly better, than the original owner. They have expanded the Thai salad and soup offerings and the entrees are varied and delicious. I eat there all the time and have yet to be disappointed. It is also the best value in town. Excellent all around!OLD REVIEW: Sala Thai has been one of my favorite lunch spots for a while. Now they have new owners and I’m afraid they may be slipping a bit, but I hope not! The food doesn’t seem quite as flavorful or varied since the old owner left. Don’t get me wrong, it is still good, but it was great.Well, maybe they will improve. It is always challenging at first. The food is still good and the prices are super reasonable. So, for now I am still a loyal patron and will give the new owners a chance to match the quality that I had become accustomed to having.
Under new management. I will miss the old Sala Thai!
All I’m going to say: shrimp fried rice!!!!!
Foodie. This is the best Thai restaurant on the Northshore, hands down. Everything fresh, the service is good, the wait staff is very pleasant but not intrusive. And it’s clean, unlike some other mom and pop Asian restaurants around here. The food….oh, it’s just amazing. The pineapple fried rice is to die for, but even the buffet is good. EVERYTHING is fresh, did I mention that. Nothing old slapped together with rice for the buffet. The owners really care about what they put out. OK, I need to stop, I’m drooling just thinking about it!!!
