Exceptional! Don’t judge a book (or restaurant) by its cover. The Shack is unassuming both in name and appearance. But, the food is nothing short of exceptional. Mexican/Caribbean/Louisiana fusion probably best describes the menu. You have to try it. It is the best Mexican/Southwest food on the Northshore. I had the smoked duck quesadilla to start and the braised brisket machaca for my entree. Both were outstanding. Tried my dinner partner’s skirt steak. Delicious. Walk in and be very pleasantly surprised.
The Shack is now open for Sunday brunch in their ShackYard behind the restaurant. Brunch menu includes a variety of items, for both breakfast and lunch, with alcohol choices as well. Waitstaff was friendly, seating is outside under a covered patio, with picnic table seating; and there is a spacious open area for the kids to play. Prices are reasonable for the portion sizes, and everyone in our group loved the food! We will definitely make a return visit.
