Best Dining Experience EVER!. The food was amazing! Every single thing was amazing! Started with complimentary bread (all we wanted) – so fresh and delicious. Then each a cup of turtle soup and bisque, an appetizer of crab cakes, entree of crawfish etoufee/fried crawfish, (hubby had the crawfish cornbread topped with a fried catfish filet and that was topped with crawfish etoufee – yes, it is as decadently delicious as it sounds). Not being able to believe that it could get any better, we had desserts of bread pudding and lemon ice box cake. All of these courses with two drinks for only $85!I’m not exaggerating when I say that everything I ate was better than I ‘ve ever had before (including my own cooking). I can’t believe this place exists. Celebrating there for our 25th wedding anniversary, I want to Thank you Grapevine for making it so special.

This place is such a great surprise in what’s left of downtown Donaldsonville. It is worth the road trip. At night the live music is great and there’s always some interesting art on the walls from local artists. The food is top notch; we love how the gumbo comes with potato salad on the side. And you have to get the white chocolate bread pudding! Get it to go and they will pack the sauce separately from the dessert and it’s just as good when you nuke it at home.

I am a local and enjoy the food that is served at all the local resturants. but the grapevine stands out as being one of the best between baton rouge and new orleans.. the food is always great and very fresh and well seasoned. the servers are a vetern crew and work the tables well. a great place to meet and enjoy all the paintings and live music on weekends and the sunday brunch is one to enjoy and relax.

Really Good. Coworkers and I stopped in for lunch on Tuesday(4/13/10) and I was really impressed with this restaurant. The decor was very inviting with walls covered in local art and by covered I mean everywhere including the restrooms, which had some great photography and primitive paintings. The only thing better than the ambiance was the food and the service and both were excellent. If there is any downside to this restaurant I’d have to say its the price, there was no lunch menu and the selections were around 14.95. The menu had salads, local Louisiana dishes, soups and pastas. A lunch special was offered and that’s what I chose and it was a very good choice both for the price(11.95) and the quality. The special was eggplant parmigiana with two boneless chicken breast and green beans. The chicken was nicely seasoned and had a light flavorful sauce, the green beans were also nicely seasoned with a bit bacon but the real star was the eggplant. The eggplant was prepared more like a casserole than traditional style you might get in an Italian restaurant, but the flavors were all there. The eggplant was fried crispy, the sauce was rich and tangy and there was a generous amount of Parmesan cheese. Grapevine was a really nice experience and the service was extremely attentive. I must admit to a bit of food envy though as my coworker had the crawfish bisque and while I didn’t get to taste it she said it was good and I believer her. It was a large bowl of rich looking gravy and about 10 stuffed crawfish heads. So I’ll make the trek back to Grapevine soon.
