Though not my favorite Thai place in BR (Thai Pepper gets the nod, for their consistenty incredible lunch buffet), Duang Tawan is a tasty option. Probably the best Tom Yum soup in town. The lunch specials are cheap and nicely portioned. My personal favorite is the fried fish w/ Choo Chee curry sauce.
This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Baton Rouge. Don’t be fooled by the appearance on the outside, the decor inside is nice and the food is even better. I love the curry dishes and there are many other unique offerings. The prices are reasonable also.
Saturday Lunch. Wow!!!!! Wasn’t expecting much. Instead I had an amazing curry dish. Called Manmusa? Anyway, I wanted to lick the bowl. It was so good!!!!!! Will be back.
After having lunch here today, unfortunately we are still on our quest to find good Thai in Baton Rouge. I see a lot of people like this place and we came on recommendation of a friend, but I guess it’s their style we don’t like. My green curry was thin like a soup (I prefer thicker curries) and the ‘medium’ heat level I requested was so beyond medium that I couldn’t eat much of it. Literally the chili flakes we’re out of control. My husband’s pas Thai was just okay. We won’t be back.
Two words describe this place. Never Again. From the odd signage that tries to reassure you that even though it looks abandoned that they are in fact OPEN to the bizarre and dirty decor inside this place ranks as the worst Thai food I’ve had. The tiny spring rolls though good in flavor were cold and the soup was ringed in a greasy red mess and overly salty with pieces of odd tasting and textured chicken. The Massaman curry had a nice flavor but was overly sweet and full of the inedible chicken. If you want good Thai in Baton Rouge head to Thai Pepper.
Fresh authentic Tai. This place is hands down the best in Baton Rouge. We moved here from New York City and tried or fair share of places around town including the usual suspects. We came here on a recommendation and haven’t looked back. This place has fresh spices and authentic well balanced light flavors that make Tai cuisine special. Absolutely delicious. Yes the decor leaves something to be desired but who cares the food is outstanding!
Authentic. I n my husband came here for lunch today. it took us a while to find the restaurant. there was no car outside. so my husband thought they r closed and then i said just make a U turn to make sure ( cause we passed it already). well, they are open . yayyy, i win . the outside was no car at all, so i hesitated. But since we drove all the way to come, so why not give it a try. we stepped in, the cute server ( i think they are all family) was waiting for us at the front door . there was no one inside the restaurant as well. we had a table near the window, nice view . we ordered the chicken satay for appetizer, it was the white meat chicken in the sticks , and marinated with satay, dipped in with the peanut sauce and some sweet n sour cucumber . for the entries, we had the pad thai with beef, the pad see ew with chicken. So far, i like both of them. very true taste, not like the other Thai restaurant in baton rouge. but after finished both, i still got a little hungry so i ordered a red curry with chicken which is good and tasty as well. Finally, i tried the Thai tea, i dont think it was good as the food. it didnt have the aroma that the thai tea supposed to have. but that dont bother me at all. Food, service was great . give it a try everyone, i dont know because i came at that time ( around 4 pm) so they were a little quiet. thumbs up !!!!!
