Amazing, authentic and well priced. Worth fighting the traffic on Jones Creek! Had the tacos per a recommendation, barbacoa and carnitas, both were amazing. Haven’t had tacos like that since a visit to southern California.

If you love tacos, these are the best tacos al pastor in town, and the salsa verde is ridiculously delicious (the spice and garlic level are not for the faint of heart). I want to try the pozole, the tortas and most everything else on the menu, but I just can’t pass up the tacos – I dream about them! Be prepared, cash only. There are several banks on Jones Creek, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

Great Food Makes Up for Spotty Service. El Limon is a hidden gem when it comes to taco shops in Baton Rouge. The cons are pretty obvious: they only take cash, chips and salsa aren’t included, and the service is typically awful. Your waitress will generally forget about your refills, and it’s rare to see someone crack a smile. Now the good news is that the food is amazing, as are the prices. El Limon serves up the best pork tacos in all of Baton Rouge, and the rest of their tacos are also great. The place is tacky looking in a good way, which adds to it being a legitimate taqueria. The only reason I don’t go there more is that it’s out of the way, but I always stop there when I’m in the Jones Creek area. Word to the wise, stop at any of the 3-4 bank ATM machines on that same block before you drop in. The headache from the poor service is more than made up for by the great food.

Really good food. First of all, there is no free chips and salsa provided at this restaurant. There is no white cheese dip. Please don’t bother coming here if this is your idea of good eats. I eat here about once a week and always enjoy the food. This is where Mexicans go to eat. I have to believe that it is because the food is close to authentic and of an excellent value. They do such a good job that I wish that the rest of Baton Rouge would discover this place. The restaurant deserves success.
