We enjoy this restaurant every time we go. They also offer an amazing brunch. Make sure you sign up with their birthday club to receive a discount off of your meal the week of your birthday.
This is our default restaurant. It’s not perfect, but the food is consistent. We’ve never had a bad meal there. It’s clean and quiet. The grilled pork chops are really good.
Reliably good. Good pasta, good hamburgers strangely enough, a little hit or miss on service, but we usually sit at the bar and enjoy the service there.
Portobello’s is my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge. On Friday night I went with my wife and two friends for dinner to celebrate my wife’s retirement. My wife never mentioned her retirement to our server, but she must have overheard, because she brought out a scoop of ice cream with a candle to my wife and congratulated her. A gesture totally not necessary for our group to enjoy our meal – the rest of the service was superb – but totally representative of the caring and attentive service Portobello’s offers. My martini and pork chops were excellent, as was the rest of our food, including my wife’s specially ordered fish. I suggest Portobello’s for any occasion!
Yummy. We ate there today, and it was great. The toasted ravioli was delicious! My fiance got the Red Stick Burger and we loved it. Our server was even timely and very polite, so I know we’ll be back. I recommend it.
Disappointed. I have always loved Portobellos. The last few visits, I had brunch there. I always get the crab cakes Benedict, which are amazing! However, my boyfriend and I decided to try dinner there the other night and we were very disappointed. The food was just ok, we felt it was a bit pricey for what we got. And we felt the service was so slow. We went about 530 on a Sunday. They did not have many customers in there but it took a long time for our food to come out. I had the chicken Marsala with the simple pasta and corn grit cakes. The chicken tasted like Tyson grilled chicken patties. The Marsala wine sauce tasted almost burnt and like a brown gravy packet. The Simple pasta Oglio Olio that I ordered as a side didn’t taste fresh and tasted like Pasta Roni out of a box. I also ordered the roasted corn grit cakes as a side and they were very good and the only thing I truly enjoyed on my plate. My boyfriend ordered the fire grilled chicken, and he too felt like we were eating frozen Tyson grilled chicken breasts. His sides were the simple pasta and roasted garlic au gratin potatoes. The potatoes were like mashed potatoes with some cheese mixed in, not like sliced potatoes covered in cheese that you would normally think of. I won’t rule them out when choosing a restaurant, I just won’t return for dinner. I will stick to their brunch from now on.
Food was good. Would visit again.. I had the Shrimp and Crab Fettucine which was excellent. My kids had the spaghetti and meatballs and a hamburger. Husband had the special which was a ribeye and crawfish marsala sauce. He enjoyed it but I did not care for the flavors of his dish but he did. We took a bananas foster bread pudding to go and my husband said it was really delicious. I am looking forward to going back to try a few more dishes I noted on the menu, namely the eggplant stack. I found some of the dishes to be overpriced and the waiter was super nice and tried really hard but I don’t think he had much experience with kids. Wasn’t bad enough to be considered a bad experience, and we were nice about it so maybe he learned a thing or two. DIning room was very dark, we had to use our cellphones to read the menus, bar area was lighter but not appropriate for kids b/c of high top tables. Good food but room for improvement.
