Food is excellent, but be prepared to wait. Went on a Saturday night for a birthday and was told you couldn’t make reservations and when we got there it was an hour and a half wait. They were still seating people at 9:30+ when we left and they are only open till ten… That being said I HIGHLY recommend the gumbo. Super dark roux base and the bowl was the same size as my boyfriend’s pasta bowl for the delta queen. $12 but the portion was so big I couldn’t complain. Maybe when they’ve been open for longer the wait will drop!
Food is all amazing. I wind up spending more than I should with eyes bigger than my stomach. It’s a hit or miss with how busy they are. Sometimes there’s an annoying wait, but lately there hasn’t been.
The bar staff was incredibly friendly. Their house salad has pecans and mandarin oranges so it isn’t your typical house salad. The steaks were cooked correctly and the Cajun boiled potatoes had just the right amount of spice. The plantation cake had a buttercream icing and was very moist. Would definitely return to try something new.
I was told about this place when visiting Natchez and instantly fell in love. The atmosphere is so Louisiana and the food is wonderful. I was delighted to hear they were coming to Baton Rouge, so there is no longer a need to visit Natchez (sorry, Natchez). The location is not super convenient for me but it’s certainly more convenient than Natchez. The shrimp and alligator sausage cheesecake is still the most delicious thing on the planet. I love the atmosphere which is a twist of Louisiana and contemporary rustic decor. I love the outhouse outside. My only complaint is that there is no lunch menu. Sure, there are sandwiches, but the seafood and pasta dishes are tempting, yet too expensive for a weekday lunch. Welcome to Baton Rouge, Roux 61.
It’s OK. Not great, nor is it awful. I found it very average in food quality and very, very noisy. We may go back, but if we do, we’ll try another night and see if it improves.
The best place I’ve been to in the Baton Rouge region. The food was phenomenal!!!!! I loved everything I ate here. From appetizer to entre to desert! The coffee was good too! The sweet tea was perfect! I love everything about this place! The wait time was worth it!
The chargrilled oysters were delicious! House salad was amazing with the balsamic vinegar. I highly recommend the Roux Rita. Delicious and refreshing!
