Thomas. This is my third or fourth visit for Sunday Brunch – outstanding – great service – Dennis will take care of your special needs when cooking your eggs – anyway you like them he will go the extra mile. My wife has order at least four of the main dishes – all have been outstanding. Take time to meet the people that make this place special – The manger Kevin has assembled a outstanding staff – plan to go back monthly and try every item – best to staff for doing outstanding job of making the experience enjoyable Keep it up Kevin – a bright future for all your staff

Calls to tell me my reservation is cancelled right after booking it. I booked reservations for a party of 3 and then 30 minutes after making the reservation they call me to tell me they overbooked and can seat us just outside the restaurant in the lobby or outside ….. it’s supposed to be 45 degrees tonight…. not the brightest bulbs in the bunch and I will be staying away and telling all of my friends to stay away.

I went last night to Tallulah to check out the hotel and bar. I enjoyed a Wicked Collins that perfectly balanced fresh cilantro, jalapeo and cucumber with gin, ginger beer and agave nectar. It was one of the best cocktails I have ever had. Each flavor came through perfectly and the aroma was heavenly. The atmosphere was upscale and pleasing. Service was excellent. The hotel has a contemporary decor that melds with Louisiana motlffs beautifully. An overhead sculpture appears to be a stylized flock of birds and cypress-like wood pieces that evoke the outdoors provide a unique hotel atmosphere in BR.

We are usually skeptical of hotel restaurants and knew there was a risk of the food being overpriced and mediocre. When there was a $30 off online coupon, we decided to give it a try.The service was pretty good. When we told the server that a shrimp was icy, he checked with the chef/manager and came back saying it was supposed to be cold. Cold shrimp is one thing, but a shrimp popsicle is never appetizing. The waiter left it on our check, but I think that was the manager’s call.Since the appetizers caught our eyes more than the entrees, we decided to share a bunch of small plates. The best thing, by far, was the complementary red pepper and white bean paste served with bread. We started with wine and a cheese board. It had manchego, gorgonzola, another blue cheese, a few olives, four slices of salami, a little roasted red pepper, and some crackers. Two blue cheeses on a cheese plate with three cheeses is a bit much. The ratio of cheese to other things was totally off. Next, we each had a cup of gumbo. It was edible but not great. We shared three appetizers: shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, and crabcakes. The serving sizes were generous for appetizers. The shrimp and grits were the best of the three but not great. The fried green tomatoes themselves were okay, but they only came with a teaspoon or so of remoulade sauce and a couple shrimp. My shrimp popsicle was part of this dish. The crabcakes weren’t great. My husband found a bunch of shells in mine; I only had a couple bites of mine. Again, there was hardly any sauce with it. It can with less than a teaspoon of a mustard sauce. It was served next to a bunch of arugula. I thought it would be a nice contrast to eat the two together, but the dressing on the arugula was way too salty.Besides the food being terrible, the atmosphere wasn’t great. I love modern decor, but it wasn’t done well at all (the rest of the hotel is decorated much better). Since its a rather expensive restaurant, I expected it to be sectioned off in the hotel, but it was totally open to the hotel hallway. The lighting is way too bright to be at all romantic. Definitely not going back! Wasn’t worth it, even with a $30 off coupon!

Dinner last night. We wanted to try out Tallulah so we took another couple. The atmosphere was great and we loved dining outside! However, the food was mediocre at best. So disappointing since it’s a cool new place in a great location. Also, the prices are just ridiculous for what you get. My filet was $38 and instead of cooked to medium temperature it was about a minute away from beef jerky. Maybe the best thing we had was the pecan pie and I’m pretty sure that was a frozen pie from Sysco. I’d probably go back for drinks with friends since the bar is very cool with the fire and blue lights but I doubt we will ever try the food again. Such a shame.
