Where’s the meat. I went to the perkins road location on two seperate occasions and ordered the small bucket of jambalaya and both times got a bucket full of rice only. Very very little meat in it. I will not return to this location

Jambalaya is good, but service is Slow slow slow! They need to speed things up during lunchtime. No sense of urgency and not as efficient as downtown location.

Hit or Miss…. Well, this Jambalaya Shoppe location is kind of hit or miss… I’ve been here about a half-dozen times, and twice, the rice has been inadequately cooked, as in, hard in the center. If it were only a few scattered grains that weren’t cooked through, that would be one thing, but both times about a quarter of the grains were hard and crunchy and really made the jambalaya downright terrible. And bear in mind, I’m not talking about that delicious crust that you sometimes get at the bottom of the pot, I mean straight up undercooked rice… nasty.Bear in mind that I get the pork jambalaya, not the chicken… I can’t speak to that. I’ve also been to the Jambalaya Shoppe in Gonzales several times, and I’ve never, not once had issues with the rice being undercooked. The problem with that location is that they run out of the pork jambalaya early in the day, sometimes before noon.I’ll wrap up my review by saying that when the pork jambalaya at the Perkins Road location is cooked properly, it’s by far better than the Gonzales shop, a bit spicier, every bit as smoky, and downright delicious. It’s just a shame they can’t seem to get a better handle on their quality control, because if this were a consistent product, it would truly be great.

Gumbo. On cold days in Louisiana many people want gumbo. DO NOT GO HERE. The gumbo is good for they can’t seem to serve it hot. Every time I’ve been there it is luke warm. If you want gumbo, go somewhere else in town. There are many other choices.

Boudin. I got a link of smoked boudin today and it was by far the worst boudin ever! On top of the fact that there was so much grease, I mean it just poured of nasty grease. The skin was also tough. I like spicy food, but this had so much spice to it that there wasn’t any other flavor to it. I do not recommend the smoked boudin, nor will ever waste money on it again!

Other menu items. Very good gumbo, potato salad, and boudin, too.

Perfect. The Jambalaya is amazing here. Can get it by the bucket, or even individual plates. Always get it every time I’m in Baton Rouge!
