It’s Pete’s New Gig.. Pete Vazquez — who had Marisol pre-Katrina, was the original guest chef at Bachanal post Katrina, a few other gigs along the way and a regular pop-up Sundays at Stein’s Deli where I always had to wait in line and consistently he sold out of everything (that means he’s popular). He has long been a creative force on the New Orleans food scene, and he has quite a following who love what he does. Not cheap, but much less than what you would pay in a restaurant. He is knowledgeable about food and incorporates international influences in his cooking. If you want an idea of what he does — he posts his constantly changing menu on his facebook page.If you want creative, somewhat exotic and GOOD food, make the trek to Algiers Point. Pay attention to the days and hours open and remember it is TAKE OUT ONLY. ,
