What a great concept! I really liked St Roch, it is nice how the whole building seems to be run by the folks at St. Roch and all the venders seem to support each other. You can order from any food stall and then leave your dishes, (yes they are real dishes) and one of the St. Roch staff will come along and bus the table you were sitting at. It is a very cooperative and supportive atmosphere. I saw different venders going to other stalls getting things that they needed and everyone seemed to be happy to help out. It was hard to pick out which place I wanted to go, but I have been really wanting to try poutine, and had scoped out the menu before we headed over, and knew King Creole was the place to go. First I have to say that their poutine is not made the standard way with french fries, but with boiled new potatoes and then covered with pepper jack cheese and crawfish etoufee. I still want to try it the regular way, but this was a very tasty and inventive way to get started. The potatoes were fantastic and must have been boiled in some heavily flavored water, and the etoufee was FULL of crawfish and was pretty darn good. I ate every bit of it. Plan to be back for more in the future when I can make it to town.
