I’m an Asian Food aficionado, so needless to say, ohm wowed my palette with a combination of traditional Japanese fare and Asian-fusion options. The ambiance was quite impressive, and I don’t just mean the model looking waitresses. Oh wait, back to the food…The idea here is that items are meant to be shared, hence kinda like tapas or Asian small plates. I’ll get straight to the point and tell you what blew my socks off : Vietnamese Hawker Beef, Kabocha (Japanese Squash) Dumplings in Miso butter, Yakisoba (this week’s protein was pork belly, the 96-hour Miso marinaded Black Cod. The play of Nobu’s rock shrimp dynamite was (the OMG shrimp) were less creamy and messy and substantially more flavorful. Big Eye Tuna tacos in wonton shell were delightful albeit small (my date went nuts over them), the Korean Pork Shanks massive so make sure you have an appetite if you order them (they come in a Bulgogi marinade). Finally, they make their noodles and gyoza in house–although I didn’t try the gyoza I can attest to confirming this statement in the yakisoba. The dessert offering could be a bit more expensive than Mochi, but I believe they’re adding items weekly as this is a new place. Will check it out soon. 5 stars to Ohm on quality of food – nothing comparable in New Orleans.
