Better than most TexMex in the area. The pared down menu works better I think. Good sized bar. There are a lot of parking demands in this area but they do try to accommodate. Staff is always friendly but Im never here at peak times and get food to go.
Management sucks. Managers do not know how to do there job! A Mexican restaurant run by Arabic. Food is very bland for Mexican food. Drinks are overpriced. Manager only seems to like flirting with the ladies instead of managing a restaurant.
Bad Experience…Going Down Fast. I have eaten at Casa Maria in Gonzales dozens of times. The food is generally good and the service always pleasant and quick. Today wwas a exception…so bad in fact, I may never return. My family entered at about 11:30 today and we seated quickly. The chips and salsa arrived quickly. Both usually good were sob par. The chips were cold and stale and the salsa unappetizing. We had two bowls that was so dirty they couldn’t be used.The waiter was new. I know this because I haven’t seen him before. He took our order and we never saw him again for about 30 minutes. We were patient. Other tables came in after us, had been served, eaten and left, but no food for us.When the waiter did return, I asked what was the hold up and he said the kitchen was slow and he would check. Ten minutes later he returned and said it would be an additional 10 minutes. I asked for the ticket for the cokes and we would just leave. He returned with a bill for $11 and said he wasn’t going to charge us for all the food. I replied that we received no food. I asked for the manager.The waiter went to the kitchen and said the manager was not there. I asked who was running the restaurant and he said no one. I asked again and he said he would recheck. In the meantime I asked the hostess if the manager was there. She said yes, so I asked her to get him.A man came from the kitchen with the waiter and hostess. They looked at our table, talked and sent the waiter back. He said the manager was not there. I asked who was the man in the gray shirt. He said there is no man in a gray shirt and left.I followed the waiter to the wait stand where he was talking to the man in the graybshirt. I asked if he was the manager. He said he was. I told him my story and that he he waiter lied about him being gone. I unformed him that they were all lying and I was going to leave and NOT pay for the 11 dollar cokes. The middle eastern manager said that the waiter had forgot to put the order in. The manager did not want to talk to me.I will never be back. Beware. This is now a middle eastern owned restaurant. They are liars and cowards. Stay away.
Overrated. Every time I drive by here, they are packed. So, I thought I would stop for lunch. Ugh!!! I had a beef taco and beef enchilada combo. Gross! The filling was dry and flavorless. The sauce on my encilada was like camned chili, not enchilada sauce. The chips were OK but the salsa didn’t have a good flavor, either. I’ll stick to the Mexican food places owned/run by Mexicans and I’ll go to Middle Eastern restaraunt for Middle Eastern food. Are they run by Mexicans? lol The service was excellent, though.
This place sucks every time I’ve eaten there it REALLY disappointed me, will not go back the food is trash, even the salsa is nasty. The queso is ok that’s the best thing I’ve eaten there and I’ve had better at any other Mexican resteraunt
Good mexican food. I like to order the soft tacos with the rice and beans!!! its really good!!! i also like to get the candies up front when i leave!!!:)
