First time to the Gonzales restaurant and I still got the same great food and good service as I have from other locations. I don’t get the opportunity to visit Don’s often, but when I do, the jacked up oysters, 2 for 1 margaritas and the boudin balls are always excellent choices for me. Love this place. Hope to return soon.
I haven’t eaten at a Don’s in a long time. I frequented the one on Airline a while back, but the quality of food and service went down, so we no longer went. We just happened to visit this location and we had a hard time choosing due to the fact that everything looked great. The service was beyond excellent and so was the food. We ordered to go tonight, after having lunch there yesterday. Looking forward to trying everything on the menu.
Good food, nice staff, fun atmosphere! We are not from the area but wanted seafood and found this restaurant. There was a 30 minute wait so we figured the food was good. Really impressed with the hush puppies, they had a great flavor and my 5 year old son ate more then half the order. Their side salads were fresh and had great flavor toppings. I even liked the unique salad dressing toppings like feta balsamic! I had their pepper jelly fired shrimp as a meal – the breading on the shrimp is great. The kids fried chicken tenders were hand breaded and really good. My husband liked the shrimp and grits – only complaint is that the portion was not very large for hungry guys. Flavor wise, I think their fried food is the way to go! Also, their seasoning is really good…it sits on the table so make sure you sprinkle it on your food for a great kick!
Oh, my…. As the last stop before going home to Los Angeles on Thursday, my group of 4 ladies stopped at Don’s for lunch. I had no idea what to expect. We had the best lunch that I had on my week long trip to Louisiana. My lunch was hot, tasty, full of flavor AND we got superb service from our server, Chelsea. We were enjoying our visit so much that the super-nice Manager, Shane came over to see what we were making such a fuss about! What a wonderful way to end a lovely vacation to Louisiana! I can’t wait to come back to eat at Don’s! Keep up the quality service and great food! Thank you so much!
Review from Marie Thomas. Dined here with three friends on March 6, 2014. The food was incredible and the service was absolutely top-notch. Chelsea, Ray and Shane made our dining experience a highlight of our Mardi Gras week. I give the whole meal, the ambience and the friendliness of the staff a full five-star rating and highly recommend this restaurant.
Husband had a bad experience 5 years ago but I talked him into taking me since I had never been. We both got the blackened redfish. The portion size was small considering it was $18. It tasted horrible the only thing that had any flavor was the lime dinner mints we grabbed walking out the door. We will not be returning.
The jacked up oyster are very mich loved, but the seafood platter looked like a seafood appetizer. 2 skinny fish and 3 shrimp ontop an ocean of french fries.
