Consistently Excellent. Eventually, any restaurant you go to will have a bad day. From Disney to McDonalds, but what I can tell you is that Hell Toyko has consistently excellent food and service for a good price!
Horrible. I have always LOVED Hello Tokyo in Gonzales, but it has gone downhill! And after tonight’s experience I will NEVER be back! We get there and ask for hibachi for two adults and four kids. They said it would be five minutes. When there was two whole hibachi tables completely open and 1 had a few seats left. No problem we waited. There were people that walk then right in front of us and a couple that walked in right after us and another couple that walked in about five minutes later. The people that walked in and front of us were seated at one table, than the people that walked in right after us were seated at another table, then we were seated at the same table and the other couple was seated at our table also. Then a chef comes out and tells us that our chef will be right out and goes to the table that was completely seated after us! By this time we had already been there for an hour and still didn’t have a chef come out except the one that skipped us. The lady sitting next to me said I sure hope we don’t get the bad chef cuz the rest of them are all cooking! The waitress walked over and I questioned her as to why they were being served before us when we were there first? She was extremely apologetic and said that she just complained to the manager about that! But it was the owners of life that had requested the next chef to go cook for her table and she gets whatever she wants! I told her I understand it’s not her fault but I want to speak with the manager! She said sure! It took him another 10 mins to even walk into the room where I had to get up and approach him with my complaint! At this point the people that walked in right in front of me were leaving! And our chef had just started cooking! The exact chef the lady sitting next to me said was the bad one! The manager gave me nothing but excuses and said that the other table was smaller so they would be served first! I said no not in the restaurant industry! First one in should be first seated and served unless it’s a simple item! He disagreed with me and said it’s because it was a smaller table! He never not once apologized or tried to do anything to make his customer happy! I said no, the problem is the owners wife gets what she wants instead if the customers being treated properly! I’m a very loyal customer of this restaurant and would leave if my kids didn’t need to eat but I will NEVER be back and he will lose a lot of business! He just walked away! What kind of man is this that manages a restaurant like this! No wonder people have quit going there! Well then we finally get our food! I ordered the filet and scallop combo. There were egg shells in my fried rice, the rice was not properly cooked since most of the pieces were practically raw, my steak was suppose to be rare and it was med well, and my scallops were burned! Not just over cooked either! I mean burned! Worst experience ever and because of the way the manager handled the whole situation I will not return! And I don’t suggest anyone else go there either since they want to play favoritism!!
Best Sushi you will find for your dollar!!. I have never been disappointed with Hello Tokyo. The quality of the fish is second to none, and the prices are much cheaper than anywhere in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. John the manager does a great job and always is there with a smiling face to greet the guests. The consistency and high quality of food speak for themselves, and this is why this place is always busy – even on a monday night. I am so happy that I live close to this place!
DISAPPOINTED!. This place used to be good. now, they have ONE good hibachi chef. the rest make the food either way too salty or not enough flavor. the prices are high considering every time we would go the portions would be less and less. you used to be able to share a hibachi plate with someone and still have food leftover. now, you are done with half of your food and he isn’t even done cooking!!! If im going to pay that much then i’d expect to leave full and satisfied. NOT HARDLY!and just FORGET about going on a weekend. then you really get shorted.
IMPRESSED !!!. My stepdaughter wanted to go to Hello Tokyo for her 13th Birthday. I read the reviews and honestly do not see how anyone could give a bad review on this place. The hostess, waitress and hibachi chef were SUPER NICE & ATTENTIVE. The food was AWESOME!!!!! The LSU roll was AMAZING!!!!It was alot of fun and we had a really good time…..I will definitely be going back & would highly recommend 🙂
GREAT service. Everything is fantastic! Greeted by wonderful hosts and sat down to a wonderful waiter. The food is always prepared fresh and is always delicious. I can’t get myself away! Favorite spot to dine!
I never understood why this place gets any bad reviews. I adore eating here. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a friendly face. I notice a lot of the employees seem to be teenagers; but I suppose that’s just what you get in a job like that. None the less they are friendly and helpful. It seems to me to be the same 5 or so people seating or taking care of to go food everyone I come in- nice to see familiar faces. I will admit I have seen some sub par servers here in the past, but it’s seem like they get weeded out and the people who stay are great. Now onto the food. I think they could get L.S.U rolls out faster than they do. It just seems like whatever they are doing is inefficient. However when they come out they taste so good it’s hard to complain. Hibachi is always great, taste amazing. By far Hello Tokyo is one of my favorite spots for Girls night out, date night, or just picking up something tasty to avoid cooking for a night. I think people only want to write a review when they have a bad experience but I’ve just had so many good ones I needed to share. This place is 5 stars in my book.
