Veggie quesadillas are great!
Slight thumbs down. The food is ok…nothing special. However, the margaritas and sangria are bad which makes El Mesquite unworthy of a return visit.
I used to really like this place but after my last couple of visits they have changed my mind. Service is sub par. Food is sub par and the prices are ridiculous. I passed up a great yet lesser known Mexican restaurant to come and be completely disappointed. My
El mesquite is Way too overhyped!!!! The food is mediocre at best! The only reason it has positive reviews is because there are No good mexican restaurants for people on the westbank to compare it to! I consider myself a connoisseur of mexican cuisine and el mesquite is NOT GOOD!
Our TexMex is Getting Better. Located in the Old Visko’s building, it’s always a tough to choose a starter: cowboy soup or queso. The queso has prevailed lately. When I get the enchaldas, they are flexible enough to let me get queso on all three instead of red sauce/chili sauce and there is never an extra charge. This is my fix until I can get back to Los Cucos in North Houston.
Delicious Veggie Food!. I love this place. Almost immediately you are greeted with salsa and tortilla chips (sometimes even before your server), The salsa is nothing to write home about, but it’s a nice little appetizer. I absolutely love their vegetable soup – a cup is just $2.95, can’t beat that! I always order the same thing, the #22 on the menu. For $8.95, the meal comes with the BEST quesadilla you will ever eat (it only has veggies in it, but it beats any chicken/steak quesadilla that I’ve ever had), a bean burrito, a chalupa, and a side of phenomenal Spanish rice. Best meal on the west bank for the price. Service has been mediocre at best on my past few visits, but that seems to be the case everywhere nowadays (*sigh).
I love this place. Everything on the meun is great we eat here almost 3 times a week. The soup is great the best
