Shrimp Toast. Fluffy fried bread pieces stuffed with minced shrimp and vegetables06 Sep, 2014Pho. Traditional hot soup with rice noodles and beef or chicken, plus a lot of fancy dressings on the side.
Eat there every time we pass through New Orleans. Always get the Vietnamese spring rolls and char broiled pork with vermicelli noodles. AWESOME! Great service and friendly servers! Bathrooms are always very dirty even at 11:05 a.m., five minutes after opening. Love eating there just usually hold my pee until I get home!
Go for pho, come back for La. Excellent pho ga, spring rolls and steamed vegetable dumplings. And I know, because we order that exact lineup once a week without fail, to the extent that the owner, La, knows our voices when we call and just asks if we want the usual. We’ve also tried the shrimp on sugarcane, the grilled chicken platter, and the quail — all excellent. They’ll go the extra mile for you, too, if you have a special request. Great to go with a group for a casual meal if you’d like to branch out of your comfort zone and try a few more exotic items. We always get take-out, but the dining room is nice (enough – I’m not saying they’re going to win any Architectural Digest awards, but it’s a little nicer than some comparable restaurants) and clean. Their menu is now online and given the very good prices, I’d encourage you to get a couple things you’re familiar with as well as a couple you’re not. Well worth crossing the bridge, New Orleanians!!!
Omg, if you are new to Vietnamese food don’t try the catfish in clay pot ( which my server suggested). I had to have the pot removed from the table…smelled like a dirty dog!!! The fish was undercooked & the mixture of spices was just weird & made me lose my appetite immediately. And we drove an hour to eat here.
Great. There’s a lot to like about Nine Roses. They serve really good food. Most of the dishes are absurdly cheap. The only drawback (if you want to call it that) is the huge menu. People are not kidding when they talk about how big the menu is. I’ve eaten at a lot of restaurants, and Nine Roses has the biggest menu I have ever seen. So much to choose from. If you are dining in for the first time, it would be a good idea to eat with somebody who has been there before and can help navigate the menu.
Grandaddy of them all …. THE biggest menu, authentic — yes be intimidated , and dive in.
Amazing Vietnamese Food. 1207. Enough said
