This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the metro area, maybe because they were my first encounter with Bun Bo Hue well over 20 years ago at their old location off of Maple and 8th, and I still think their version of the dish, is my favorite. They have a huge menu, not only excellent Vietnamese dishes but also Chinese as well, just in case you are dinning with picky people who can’t seem to think past General Tso’s.

I always order the same thing every time. I want to try something else but I just love what I always get. Also, the menu overwhelms me. And other people have tasty looking things on their tables that distract me. So I just blurt out shrimp with eggplant in garlic sauce when our order is taken. But I am never disappointed.

Today we stopped in for the lunch, as usual we started with the house quail! Fantastic, if it’s your first time, don’t miss it. Then for the main course I had pork with Chinese eggplant in a clay pot (13.29). This is one of my favorite dishes here. We always get it. You won’t be disappointed. And to mix it up we tried the pork spare ribs with pickled mustard greens soup, (16.07). I was pleasantly surprised at just how good this is. The veggies where pickled and had a good crunch to them. Kind of a sweet/sour broth. More sweet. I will get this again.
