I am SO excited to write this review because I absolutely loved this find! It is situated next door to Saffron Nola which is another great Westbank eatery. I have been pestering every known local latin food purveyor to please consider serving shrimp mofongo. I just couldnt understand how this dish is overlooked in New Orleans. So imagine my delight when I spotted this little place tucked away on Gretna Blvd! The owners are a delightful Haitian family and their menu is a mix of traditional Latin and Caribbean foods. They had empanadas, pastellitos de bacalao (cod fish in puff pastry), tostones – all of which were fresh and delicious. For our mains I got the shrimp mofongo, which is a caribbean shrimp creole stew paired with a garlic mashed mound of plantains. It totally hit the spot. My spouse got the fried pork platter that came with a spicy cole slaw and tostones. We split a portion of rice with black beans. My spouse said the spicy cole slaw was better than Rum House cole slaw. It was a vinegary cole slaw and very tasty. We had no room for dessert, but hope to rectify that on our next trip.I cant wait to work my way through the rest of the menu!!
