I’ve driven by shorty’s a thousand times and stopped in today to give it a try. I decided to try the signature dish, ribs. The ribs are oven baked I suspect, from the lack of smoke in their flavor. They were however meaty and tender, very much like the product you get at Applebee’s or chillie’s. The place was clean, service was good, I saw some decent looking poyboys come out of the kitchen which on second thought may have made a better lunch. Meal & tip, $17, pretty steep for a lackluster lunch.

All you can eat fried catfish on saturday night for $9.99. catfish was fried to perfection using cornmeal, which is my favorite. came with two sides and a slice of cake. plenty enough, didnt need a second plate. our waitress Theresa was very attentive – not once did I have to ask for a refill of her amazing sweet tea. will be back one Wednesday evening to try the ribs and Thursday for hamburger steak. restaurant was very clean. will visit again.
