Dinning Experience. I went to La Carreta of Houma last week for the first time. I heard so many good things about the atmosphere and the food that I had to try it out. Kellie Luke was our server and she was awesome. She helped us out alot in deciding on what to have for our first time. The food was amazing. She also told us about the live bands and bar outside that is our next trip to the restaurant. She was extremely helpful and wonderful server.
First visit – not sure if we’ll make it back – maybe at happy hour. All food items were overpricedthe margaritas and wines were priceyand honestly I didn’t taste the alcohol in the margaritas – Thank you for the experience
La Carreta. Great time great service and amazing food!
Mexican Salt Bar …. If you like eating food that tastes like salt, this is your place to go. There is nothing gourmet, or subtle, or layered about the flavors or seasonings in their dishes. Salt is the prevalent taste. And, you get to pay a lot for the privilege of consuming this quantity of salt. The menu is very limited & poorly printed. The prices are beyond what the quality of food can demand. If you’re a sports fan (there’s no angle from which you can’t see a TV) & enjoy drinking margaritas that come out of one of those high fructose pumping slushy machines, this is your place to go! Apparently, no one manages this restaurant, as we never saw anyone who looked like they were in charge during our visit. The waiter was very nice, but spoke little English … So, when I told him that the food tasted like one big salt block, he just smiled & nodded his head. The place is new … the architecture of the building is very appropriate … the landscaping is very nice. There is an outdoor seating area, if you enjoy dining w/ traffic noise as the background music & all the car exhaust you can inhale. The inside looks like a glorified sports bar. [A personal peeve: Why do restaurants feel it necessary to install televisions? I can stay home & eat in front of the TV. When I go out to eat, it is for the experience of dining … to perhaps eat something that I don’t make at home … I’m not interested in recreating my living room experience.]My take: if you’ve got calories & money to waste, go eat at La Carreta … otherwise, go elsewhere.
Have been 4 times since they opened. 3 out of four times waited 20 minutes and never seen a single server. Had to go get my own drinks and food or like tonight I just left and went to another place. Food is nasty, greasy, cold, and flavorless. Could be possibly worst place in houma to eat. Had high hopes and figured I would give them a chance but 4 times is enough in my book.
La Carreta was La Regreta…. The salsa has little to no flavor except for a subtle hint of cilantro that made it palatable. I ordered the burrito supreme, hoping that a traditionally simple Tex/Mex Dish would change the low hopes of me returning that was set by the salsa. My burrito closed the deal. It was a .. Rice a roni and Taco Bell production on a plate. If it was not for the spoonful of beef I found in the middle, I would have mistaken this for a vegan meal.
