Excellent seafood, great salad, fantastic rolls and bread…coupled with beautiful scenery. Did I mention the service was excellent plus.
The fresh baked bread with every meal is to die for. Also, the gumbo and seafood bisque are very good. Slow service, but they warn you with a cleverly placed sign on the door. Sweet wait staff and beautiful surroundings.
The best . . .. Cafe Jefferson offers the best seafood gumbo I have ever eaten. It also offers one of my favorite eggplant dishes: Eggplant Michelle. Cafe Jefferson is open seven days a week, so there is no excuse not to go.
Great Place, Great View, Slow Service. Great place to take your wife for lunch but the service is not great….BUT……The servers do help each other and between the 3 it was a good experience. I will go back just because my wife liked it
I was reluctant to want to dine here because the view was so lovely, so I figured the food would be average. In my Louisiana seafood experiences, you rarely get both. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were all extremely friendly & local & went out of their way to accommodate. We tried several different dishes & they were all the best I’ve had of that particular dish. Salads were huge. I tasted the Lafitte, Remoulade & Ceasar & they were all delicious. The seafood bisque was perfection. My husband orders it at every restaurant & I’ve yet to taste one better or have that much seafood in it. The Eggplant Michelle was amazing & the Crab Au Gratin was the best crab dish I’ve had before. Definitely worth your time.
Great food and incredible view!. Best view in Louisiana overlooking Lake Peigneur framed by ancient live oaks and spanish moss. Cajun classics like crawfish Etoufee and Gumbo like mom used to make. Eggplant Michelle is outstanding, muffoletta’s better than New Orleans, Seafood Heaven, Crawfish Cardinale, Shrimp with Remoulade sauce, Seafood Bisque……. The list goes on and on. Home made deserts like lemon icebox pie and delicious flan. The ONLY restaurant in Acadiana for REAL cajun food!!!!
Love it!!. I have been to Rip Van Winkle Gardens several times to tour and eat. I love Cafe Jefferson. The view is amazing and the food is even better! They offer alot of different items that TOP other places in the area. The seafood bisque is my absolute favorite! They have some homemade desserts now. I tried the Lemon Icebox pie and looovveeeddd it. You can even eat outside if you want! Overall, my favorite place to eat in the area.
