BEST AMBIENCE! This place is the best place to eat lunch in New Iberia. The food is great and wait staff are extremely friendly and professional. They will accommodate larger parties without reservations. However, the eating area is small. You can enjoy lunch outside.
Worth a Detour. Cafe Jefferson is a lovely cafe located in an out-of-the-way spot close to New Iberia. The grounds are stunning, the views equally so, and the food is decent. I would highly recommend Eggplant Michelle, which is a small but rich casserole replete with seafood and eggplant. It comes with a good-sized Caesar salad. The Chef’s Salad, on the other hand, is unwieldy. There’s way too much lettuce piled on too small a plate, so taking a bite is akin to risking a wrong foot on an avalanche-prone mountain. The dressing comes in small portion-control plastic containers, which rather defeats the elegance of the place. The mozzarella-pesto sandwich is a good bet for vegetarians.
