First time for the buffet…. My family and I had eaten here as many times as we have been to or through the area. This was the first time for all of us to eat the buffet on Sunday. Everyone enjoyed their food. The roast was done well and it was cooked until falling apart, which the the way I like it.The seafood gumbo was seasoned well and had a reasonable amount of shrimp and other seafood. The dirty rice was very good. The beans surprised me at their quality and taste. The rice was good, not sticky, but not under cooked either. Even choosing the buffet and water for all to drink our server was attentive and re-filled our glasses and we all enjoyed our meal. We may have enjoyed it too much since we were inadvertently locked in…ha. That was remedied with a couple of seconds but it was a good trip.I am looking forward to my next trip to The Yellow Bowl. It is a treat to go to a restaurant which cooks food as well (or almost as well) as I am accustomed to.14 Mar, 2010The Good Bowl. We enjoyed a good bowl of gumbo, fried catfish, with crawfish etoufee on top and all on top of French toast (not sure about the name of this dish, only sure about how delicious it was!). The serving staff is friendly and has good suggestions. A good place to eat alone, with friends, with family, or with your enemies (to make them your friends when they finish the meal). We will eat there again with family when we take another long road trip to South Louisiana on our way to Avery Island, Steen’s in Abbeville, Konriko (Conrad Rice Mill), Stoke’s Tropicals and other places of interest along and near Hwys. 90 & 182. Merci!Addendum: in early June we will be in that area again. We are hinting to a dear friend to take us there! ha. It has not been a disappointment yet, though if you are not used to the seasoning, you may need to ask for a little less seasoning or make sure you have potato salad, bread, etc. to eat with your meal.

It had been many years for my husband and I both but it was worth the wait. I got the seafood stuffed flounder and he got the grilled seafood platter. Delicious! Cooked just right. Service was good and timely. Will be back:)

Yellow bowl food. We drove from Houma La. to try the food because of rave reviews from our relatives. Some of the best food in south Louisiana.

My cousin and I went around the area checkin out most of the local restaurants, and we agreed on one thing: The Yellow Bowl has the BEST corn and crab bisque from Jeanerette to Houma:). It was DELICIOUS. My kind of bisque:). Great job!!!!

Ordered grilled shrimp. Came out smelling bad. Tasted even worse.

Yellow Bowl & T.K. Hulin. I have eaten @ Yellow Bowl for over 50 years and never was disappointed. It is re-opened by Mrs. Hulin & T.K., famous Cajun bandleader / raconteur. Mrs. Hulin’s family owned & ran it for decades. The food is the same as always, WONDERFUL.I say: Order from menu; not buffet. The crawfish bisque, in season, is better than my Mom’s. Waaaaay better than anything here in New Orleans, I guarantee!leVieuxNew Orleans
