World class where you wouldn’t expect it. A great experience!. Stopped in for lunch with a friend. I had exquisite, thinly sliced pork cutlets w/ white beans, and a green gumbo that is close to the one of the best things I’ve ever eaten with a spoon. The salad was growing in the Caf Hope garden 50 feet away an hour before I had it with a light vinaigrette. Total tab for myself and a friend who had a pair of perfectly cooked steak sandwiches, including beverages, tax and 20% tip was under $46. The food was fantastic. The place is spotless, the service while beginner level (Caf Hope is a professional training school) was endearing- super courteous and prompt. I am totally won over. Can’t wait to go back.

A great Friday night dining experience. My favorites this past Friday was the tomato and cucumber gazpacho , fresh greens from cafe hope gardens and pompano. The atmosphere is so relaxing after a busy work week. Prices very reasonable and of course students from the program are always smiling and eager to learn.

Love Hope!. I love what Cafe Hope is about. Helping troubled teens and young adults gain on-the-job training by prepping them for the restaurant industry. My server, Antoine, was very nice, attentive and manerable. Also, the instructors are on-hand in the dining room observing and assisting the students. With that said, my meal consisted of half of a chicken, Caribbean glazed including one side, I choose macaroni, $9 and added a side of collard greens $3. The glaze on the chicken was good but the chicken itself could have benefited from being cooked a bit longer, also the flesh of the chicken lacked flavor and needed to be seasoned more. The macaroni was a bit dry, but still good, (they use penne pasta). The collard greens were not good, they were dry and needed more meat seasoning (I think they used ham seasoning). I do consider the fact that the student cooks are not refined and are still in the learning phase as their course is a 12 week course. I actually felt like the meal was a little over- priced, especially for getting only one side. Overall, I would return here.Pros: Benefits troubled youths. Cons: A tad over-priced, food just OK.

Highly recommended. Sort of like Cafe Reconcile in Central City, but the food is better. If you want a taste of Southern cuisine, Cafe Hope is well worth it.

My New Secret Lunch Spot. FRESH ingredientsTASTY food, fair pricing lunch only :(So far, I’ve tried the Meat ah Ball po boy (w/ melt in your mouth bread and meatballs that have to be ole Aunt Bunnys recipe (you know, from da Ninth Ward?) that are tender, & juicy, and are covered with a smooth and slightly sweet homemade red Gravy on top…MMMmm MMMMM !Next was da Swimps an cheese QuesadillasDa Shrimps were FRESH and had that right outta da Gulf flavor ( and actually tasted like they were right off the boat …I will order this again:)Then a Tender chunk, chicken salad sammich on some type of foccia bread? (rate that a B to B-)If you like southern style sweet tea theirs is perfectionWhat I’ve learned about this place is….The money you spend goes to teaching the young staff new work place skills they would not have learned, coming from displaced or advantaged homes Cafe Hope is in The Madonna Manor complex( of the Catholic Charities Campus, 1101 Barataria Blvd in Marrero) with only 1 sign at the drivewayhttp://www.cafehope.org/pages/detail/3/about-cafe-hope
