Went there last evening. I am not a culinary expert but love seafood. I do enjoy a good time with a good meal. Place was pretty busy as they had a special on a crawfish boil. Sat at the oyster bar and had a dozen char grilled and a bowl of gumbo. Both were good. Pedro was very attentive. It was a good meal and a good time. I am sure there are better places around, but I would recommend this one for casual seafood dining.
It’s a neighborhood seafood joint. I’ve been coming here since they were at the Lakefront. The reason to come here is for the $19.99 lobster- it comes with potatoes, corn & a side salad. The chargrilled oysters are okay & you really can’t mess up raw oysters…… But seriously, $19.99 for a 1.25lb Lobster; it’s practically that much at the grocery store. I had great service, although my martini tasted like it was made with a dirty glass. Anyway, get the lobster & drink beer- problem solved!
I’ve never had waitstaff so RUDE. We first approached the hostess table and I told the man we have 4 adults and 1 child that needed a high chair. This nasty woman quickly interrupted me and said SHE HAS 5 HEADS WE COUNT HEADS. Then we stood there waiting for someone to lead us to a table. We were never called or spoken to until the same woman yelled YALL JUST GOING TO STAND THERE ALL NIGHT. We were all caught off guard because she hadn’t spoken a peep to us to let us know she was ready! Our waitress couldn’t have cared less and was not helpful when we had questions. The menu was vague and didn’t even list the sides with the dishes. My 8oz tuna didn’t have side options it came with jambalaya and squash melody. Which I don’t eat either. Would have been nice to have options for the price!! The best part of the dinner was the awesome bus boy. He was so great at picking up extra plates and so so sweet and friendly. Maybe they should make the nasty hostess clean up messes and place this nice young man up front.
Mediocre food and slow service. Charbroiled oysters were ok, but came with a tiny section of bread. Took so long to get more bread we just ate the oysters without. Plenty of open tables but were seated right on top of a noisy group. Waitress would just drop off food and leave in a hurry without even seeing if we needed anything, like water or bread, even after placing our empty water glasses at the end of the table. Terrible experience, will not return.
Waste of time and money. Called for over an hour for directions with no answer. Finally find it and was so disappointed! Salad was brown and wilted, crab stuffed mushrooms full of shells, fried oysters’ breading had no flavor and over cooked and bread was like rocks! Couple at next table was complaining about their service and food as well. We won’t be going back
Crawfish & charbroiled oysters are good!
Had a fantastic meal at Jaeger’s tonight! Phil was especially accomodating toward our large group and we barely waited for seating. Food and service were both fantastic! The negative reviews on this site are clearly written by competitors trying to ruin the reputation of a New Orleans tradition! The gumbo, catfish, shrimp and hushpuppies were amazing…crawfish and oysters very fresh….Will make a point to visit Jaeger’s when on this side of the city….
