It seems that lately I have had a strange obsession with finding good Mexican food outside of Texas. This week a friend recommended Casa Garcia since I was staying near the airport. Overall my experience at Casa was good. Service was excellent, food was good although not overly impressive. Let me break it down. GOOD- -beans had a good flavor and also are severed with your chips at the beginning if the meal. -queso was yummy, and a big portion. Definitely meant to be split between several people -chicken enchilada was tasty. Good flavor on the chicken itself and covered in queso. -restaurant was clean and inviting. BAD- store bought, generic tortillas. It’s flour and water. Make them homemade and you will be rockstars – red enchilada sauce was very poor. Tasted mostly like tomato sauce. No flavor. – rice was ok, but weird texture. Should use long grain rice. Overall, not a bad meal at all. But, I’m still looking for a great Mexican spot in New Orleans!
