I’ll start by saying that we did use the Groupon that Churra’s had available, so I didn’t pay the typical weekend dinner buffet price (which includes the grill). It’s good.Very good. There were a solid number of sides to choose from, all of which were good. The chicken lasagna was oddly my favorite part of dinner. But that’s not what I’m writing about. The grill had ribs, bacon wrapped chicken, filet, sirloin, lamb, sausage (amazing sausage, by the way), and a few other meats. Most of it is ready and freshly sliced off after you request it. The only items we waited for were the lamb and steak, which we requested and it was brought to the table by the waitress. I know some people complained about the amount of salt, but it does serve it’s purpose. I didn’t find it overpowering, and I don’t generally like much salt on my food. The sausage and bacon wrapped chicken were my real favorites. I wasn’t a fan of the ribs – I felt they were too tough. The steak and lamb were deliciously tender, although cooked less than I like (the other two in my party will eat nearly raw meat, so they adored it). Before we left, we grabbed two of each of the dessert items in the display case. I don’t recall the names, but it was all soooooo good. I’m not a fan of coconut, but I was nearly converted that night.I wish it weren’t quite so expensive, but realistically, it was worth it to be able to try so many different meats (and as much as you can eat).
After reading a few of the reviews here I feel the need to offer my opinion. I am really surprised how many people have said that this is an expensive restaurant. I have to believe that they have never been to Fogo De Chao or Texas De Brazil. The difference in price is astounding. That being said, you are not getting the same atmosphere here as in those other places. Also you will not get as good of a cut of meats. And the side buffet is much smaller at Churras. But you are also not paying $35-$50 per person. This is a working man’s Brazilian Steakhouse. I told my friend that it is like Fogo De Chao and Golden Corral had a baby. No frills, but you still get lots of great food. I do agree that some of the meats are on the salty side. My favorite today was the chicken breast and the sausage. The ribs were definitely salty and a little tough. I really enjoyed the pot roast from the buffet and had some of the best black beans I have ever tried. I have no issue recommending Churras as a great place to eat. Come hungry!
It’s Ok. We had a good groupon for Churra’s, so we decided to try it. The decor is very sparse, but the service is good. Everything is written in both English and Spanish/Portuguese. There’s one small buffet that has hot sides (pinto & black beans, rice, fried yucca, fries, green beans) and salad. Then, there’s the counter when you can request the freshly grilled meat. Though they have pictures showing all sorts of meat on the walls, they only had 4 or 5 meats cooking on Friday night. We tried the filet, sirloin, chicken and sausage. Some meats were over cooked and dry and some were on the verge of being too salty. Some meats were perfectly cooked and seasoned. We had house-made chocolate fudge balls (brigadeiros) for dessert that were awesome. It’s hit or miss quality really, but we enjoyed it. Might be a bit too pricey for the selection and quality though…
Worst Restaurant in New Orleans. Think truck stop atmosphere, with all you can eat horse meat. Maybe horse meat is good though, if so, think bad tough horse meat. Not good in any way.
Ramona Ramos. My favorite place for grilled meats! The buffet is wonderful! My son, husband and I love this place!
Good deal if your a carnivore. All you can eat salad bar w / meat bar. $20.00. My wife and I went there on Friday night because we found a. $5.00 off $25.00 in the latest Clipper Magazine. It sounded interesting and we like to try new things. We got there about 6:00 and noticed that there was only one other couple in the place, which should have tipped us off right away . The all you can eat salad bar was okay. The meat selection varied, we tried the sirloin, which our waitress suggested. It was similar to prime rib and was cooked medium rare. Rate 6 out of 10. The rest of the meats we ordered, filet mignon & chicken, were so over cooked they were not edible. The waitress asked us if we wanted to try the cheese bread, which was the size of a small donut hole. We later found out that they were not included in the all you can eat. We found the $19.95 price high for what we got. Will not go back again.
Pleasant First Trip. I ate there at the dinner meal on a Friday. The staff and owner were helpful, making recommendations about dishes, and they actually show you the cut of meat when they slice it to serve it on your plate. this allows you to pick the level of cooking desired rare-well done. The meat was juicy, and the salad bar was fresh. I would recommend this restaurant and plan on going back. Notes: we visited the restaurant after reading a couple of mixed reviews, people either loved it or disliked it. the main complaints we read had referred to the meat. remember that the more well-done the meat, the drier it MAY be. Also, the cut of meat also has something to do with the quality you receive. ASK Questions. the staff will help you to get the best experience possible.
