Authentic Cuban Food In Nola. In the mood for some authentic Cuban food on the way home from church on Sunday afternoon so we dropped into Garces International Cuisine. I knew it was a good sign when we walked in and heard more people speaking Spanish than English. We were quickly seated and given menus a few minutes later the waitress came over to answer any questions we might have and take out order. I had the breaded steak with white rice and black beans while my husband had the flame cow tail with congri and fried sweet plantains. The food took a few minutes to come out but that was alright because some hot Cuban bread with butter was brought for us to munch on while we waited. When the food arrived it was piping hot, full of flavor,and delicious to the very last bite. After our meal we barely had room for dessert but couldn’t pass up a caramel flan and Cuban coffee. We will definitely be going back to Garces!
I love this place. The lunch specials here cannot be beat. I like to come at least once a month. The service is usually friendly and the owner always thanks me for coming when I leave. The food is delicious. I’ve never had a bad meal and I try to order new things each time. The congri is excellent. I can normally make two meals out of one lunch special the food is so filling.

Sorry to say it was Disappointing. When I saw the name it brought back memories of great meals eaten at the old Mid City locationSadly this new place did not measure up Maybe I caught them on an off day…..maybeMaybe I ordered the wrong items, ie I saw mixed Pupusas and figured I would give them a shot but am sorry to say they were soggy , undercooked, no filling commercial productsThe black bean soup was weak and rather flavorlessThe tortilla chips weren’t fresh..On a positive note we had good attentive service and My son did enjoy his steak (he gave a portion and it very goodYmmv
Slow service but great food! Get the platter for two.
Nice cozy spot for dinner. The chicken croquets were wonderful for appetizers. I had the Cuban steak,black beans and rice,and the sweet plantains. It summed up to be truly Cuban and wonderful. Would come back and recommend Garces to friends.
I had the lunch special on wednesday, very good, i will come back again, waitress was very nice and helpful
